Your PC Needs To Be *This* Tall To Play Assassin's Creed III

Ubisoft just released the specs for the PC version of Assassin's Creed III. Note they've only released the minimum specs...anyone looking for recommended, you'll just have to compare your system to these in your head and make an educated guess!

Supported OS: Windows Vista (SP2) / Windows 7 (SP1) / Windows 8

Processor: 2.66 GHz Intel Core2 Duo E6700 or 3.00 GHz AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ or better recommended

RAM: 2 GB (4 GB recommended)

Video Card: 512 MB DirectX 9.0c-compliant with Shader Model 4.0 or higher (see supported list)*

Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c-compliant (5.1 surround sound recommended)

DVD-ROM: Dual-layer drive

Hard Drive Space: 17 GB

Peripherals Supported: Windows-compatible keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360 Controller for Windows recommended)

Multiplayer: 256 kbps or faster broadband connection

Supported Video Cards at Time of Release:

AMD Radeon HD 3870 / 4000 / 5000 / 6000 / 7000 series or better

NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT / 9 / 100 / 200 / 300 / 400 / 500 / 600 series or better

Laptop versions of these cards may work, but are not supported. These chipsets are the only ones that will run this game.

No XP support, but then, that's becoming increasingly common. Also, 17GB? For Assassin's Creed? I smell some giant textures.

Not too heavy, lookin all good for me!

Looking at the recommended and realising i'm just scraping in, damn time for an upgrade!!

hmm Laptop versions may work but are not supported?

Does this mean i should cancel my pre-order?
    I'm using an Alienware m14x with 3GB Nvidia 555GTM

Yeah id cancel if it was for laptop. They are always underpowered for gaming if you want decent graphics. Sell the lappy and build a nice pc. Even basic stuff will outperform any lappy regardless of the sticker on the lid.

Just need a better CPU, which i'll be getting soon anyway

17GB? Geez games are getting big these days haha.

Good to see another big series ditch XP support as well.

That doesn't even compare to Max Payne 3, which was at least 29GB...

Just because they need that much space free doesn't mean they're going to take it up. The free space specs are usually massively overestimated.

No XP? Finally developers are making a smart decision in droping an obsolete OS. Good Job Ubisoft.

Wait, Ubisoft put games on PC??????8?

I thought ubisoft stated that they are no longer going to need always on DRM, which makes the net connection as a requirement(but not stipulated for activation only) interesting.

Where? It looks like it's stipulating a 256k connection as a requirement for Multiplayer and I don't think that's unfair.

I just need to get an upgrade on my video card and power supply and i'll be set.

Man i cant wait to pirate this.
