An Extremely Clever Way To Revisit A Ten-Year-Old Adventure Classic

Runaway: A Road Adventure is a classic point-and-click adventure game from 2001, one of the most beloved games in the genre. For its (slightly late) tenth anniversary, developer Pendulo Studios delivers a retelling of the tale through the eyes of its love-struck heroes, years after the flames of passion have died.

In Hidden Runaway, available today on iTunes, Brian Basco and Gina Timmins are no longer the couple they became during their epic adventure in the original game. They can’t stand each other, but come together in the office of a Hollywood producer to retell the tale of their exciting first meeting.

Through casual mini-games and hidden object puzzles the pair relive past events, exploring the events of the first Runaway game in a completely new way. New players can enjoy the adventure, while old fans will soak up the nostalgia. And who knows, maybe this trip down memory lane will get the band back together.

What a positively delightful way to bring an older game into the present market. Let’s do this with all of the adventure games! LucasArts, you next.
