Community Kudos

Man the weeks are truly passing a little too quickly for my liking. It’s Friday already? It’s the end of October already? What is going on here! Oh, also — welcome to Community Kudos.

Hey, a quick question: how are those comment notifications working out for you all? I’m actually super chuffed about their existence. Honestly, there have been times when I refrained from commenting as much because I wasn’t sure if I’d have the time to constantly check back. Now I feel as though I can be a bit looser with commenting and able to keep up without losing my job!

Anyway, I just wondered how everyone was finding it.

Noms. Let’s get to it.

What about that Rocketman, eh? When he’s not busy trolling me on Twitter, you can usually find him being a super generous all round good guy who buys stuff for people.

But he’s also a big jerk face.

Aleph Null
Noms to Rocketman, due to him always having a quick wit and being on the ball with all things twitter.
But predominantly for sparking some awesome discussions, both on TAY and twitter, covering a HUGE scope of things ranging from the merits of education, the general fascination with humility as a virtue, and insights such as “I don’t like Gilmore Girls because I like it”.
Which has been bothering me for the past few hours. I mean, how can you get more zen than that?! What *is* ‘like’? Appreciation? Acceptance? An amoral metaphysical understanding of the inner workings of the mind?

Cakesmith
Kudos nom for Rocketman because of reasons.

Also because he bought me a ticket to PAX when I couldn’t afford one until next week. What a champion. I believe he also bought one for Blaghman as well. What a guy!

Blaghman
Rocketman. For being a jerk.

So yeah. Rocketman. A cool bro. And a jerk.

According to Blaghman, AlexPants is also jerk. So you’re in good company.

Alright, everybodyyyyy Freeeeeeeeeeze. You’re not putting me in dah coolah. (This is my way of introducing noms from Freeze.)

Freeze
I’d like to nominate page 14 of TAY. Just the whole damned thing. Except for that jerk Freeze. Who does he think he is?

Anti-Nom for Greenius for his Meanius drawing of me.

Greenius isn’t so Meanius. He is the new Oprah of the Kotaku Community!

Greenius
It feels wrong for me to single out any name(s) for Kudos so I’m doing Oprah noms.

“Everyone gets a nom! You get a nom! You get a nom! etc. etc.”

So much love going around with the Kotaku peeps that it’s making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

FEELGOOD FOURTEEN!

I think I need to check out this page 14 on TAY! What happened over there!?

I’ve always sort of labelled Scree as the Queen of the Multi-noms — I think one week I got four emails of noms from her. But to be fair, she’s actually gotten really good at containing her kudos nominations to one email! Also — Scree got her tooth fixed. Hurray!

Scree
Anyway, three noms this email (hoping only one email, fingers crossed.)
First in relation to Pax tickets. I thought there was no way I could afford the tickets because it was so expensive.
I half jokingly said that I would help someone cosplay in exchange for Pax tickets. Nova took me up on the offer. So kudos to him for having more faith in me then I do in myself.
The second nom goes to Negative Zero for helping me fix my computer. Hopefully this time for good. Turns out it was a faulty ram card all along *shakes fist*
The third goes to Tech knight who gave me advice on how to remove and place ram cards. Due to that I ended up finding the broken card without damaging the others.

Funnily enough, NovaCascade thought he actually had the better of the whole Cosplay/PAX deal!

NovaCascade
I have a huge big uber Kudos nom for scree who has offered to make me a cosplay outfit for PAX. She’s already putting a ton of thought into it, I just know it’s going to be awesome. I may have to lock this in as a rolling nom for every week between now and July. Every time we talk about it I just get more and more excited.

AlexPants. I like his beard. It’s cool. I also like all the hard work he puts into the Potaku website. That guy is busting it out in the beard and Potaku department. What a bro. He had noms. They were short, presumably because he is busy cultivating his beard.

AlexPants
Dropping noms for Cakesmith and Shiggy for being generous (and bearded) gentlemen.
…that’s about it.

Okay Powalen. This guy. He goes ahead and invents a new type of nom, then has the audacity to put a trademark on it! This guy…

Powalen
Firstly I’d like to give a Hilarity Nom™ to EVERYONE for somehow making this the funniest week on record. They’ve either stepped up their comedic game, or I’ve finally gone insane.

Secondly, one regular nom to Masha for generously gifting me a PS+ trial code (though he’s totally trying to get me hooked). Thanks bud!

What even is a hilarity nom!

Effluvium Boy is a real smooth dude with a smooth voice. He oughta be a motivational speaker, or one of those TV hypnotists with a voice like that. He would be a cool magician. Hey Flu — why don’t you become a magician?

Instead of becoming a magician Flu sent me these noms.

Effluvium Boy
I nom Puck, for consistently well written and calculated comments.
Some of the less-conspicuous community members, such as Puck, deserve recognition for maintaining a certain level of courtesy within the comments sections.

I can’t believe I am about to write this, but Welbot was on time with his noms again. Is this the start of something beautiful? I want to believe.

Welbot
This week I would like to throw my first nom to a non TAYbie, hell even a non-kotakian! My sister!! Have to give her kudos for buying me a ticket to see Frenzal Rhomb last week! Was the most kickass show I’ve been to this year by a long shot, and well worthy of a kudos!

Back on the subject of actual Kotaku noms though, I’m going to throw mine to Virus this week! He didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to deserve it, but he’s just continuously an all round great guy 🙂 Always there to have a say and make you feel welcome and wanted! 🙂 That’s as good a reason as any in my world! 🙂 Thanks for being you Virus!! Much appreciated!

So yes, Welbot is usually the King of Last Minute Noms, but this week the title goes to SmurfyDog, who was last to send in his noms this week!

Powalen
— Lambomann for his great article on Windows 8.

— Saturday and Freeze for seriously extensive and detailed Snacktaku write-ups.

— Everyone who posted in 90s Night on TAY last night for letting me hear some old favourites, and everyone else for being awesome!

Wow, a lot of noms this week. A lot. Sorry if the whole post seems a bit rushed!

I think today’s Community Kudos has to go to Rocketman. Even if he does troll me on Twitter!

Have a great weekend guys!
