Criterion Interested In Making Another Burnout... And Maybe Road Rash!

But that's just a maybe. In a fantastic interview with The Guardian, Criterion developers Craig Sullivan and Alex Ward spoke in-depth about the upcoming Need for Speed Most Wanted, but also discussed what Criterion might work on in the future. Another Burnout game? That's almost a certainty. But Road Rash? That's a maybe. So you're saying there's a chance!

"We will make another Burnout game at some point," said Sullivan. "Obviously, as we're working on NFS we're thinking of really good ideas that aren't right for this series; there are ideas that we're going to explore with Burnout."

To the folks at Criterion, it's all about pushing the boundaries. Part of me wonders if the team is holding back on some of the crazier ideas for its next Burnout title.

"There's a lot of new stuff in Most Wanted, a lot for people to get their heads around - and sometimes there's only so much explaining you can do - we've reined in some of the ideas we had for this game, they were a little ahead of their time."

Okay, now about that Road Rash thing...

"When we did Burnout Paradise we did some motorbike DLC and now everyone thinks that we're going to do Road Rash at some point," explains Sullivan. "I had a lot of fun playing that game, we think bikes are fun. We might make a Road Rash game…. But then we might make a game without vehicles in it...

"but Road Rash seems like a good fit for Criterion..."

Oh hell yes to another Road Rash game!

Yes to both another Burnout and Road Rash.

I get frustrated when people compare Criterion's NFS games to Burnout. The crashes/damage suck in NFS games because of licensed vehicles, gimme a new Burnout with real crashes!

Oh man... a Road Rash game made by Criterion?
    Take my money now!

Road Rash would be amazing.. But surely you'd have to keep it point to point and not free roam?

RoadRash would be best as a free roaming game like Paradise. Have a giant open country area with cities or whatever to explore, find your races you can compete in, lay bets on races, compete online, have a hand to hand system if you get off your bike while not racing. It'd be insane :D

Sequel to Paradise is ridiculously welcome and will be purchased with the highest special edition in mind.

The Bike expansion was heaps of fun, even though the amount of content was on the low side. I would like a Paradise type game based just on bikes, you can easily have stunt runs and given there is already a "Road Rage" event in Paradise which is practically a Road Rash style of event, it would easily work... make it point to point and a bigger map and it will be all sorts of win.

EA have been hinting for years that they're somewhat interested in doing a new Road Rash though evidently not so interested as to actually bank-roll one. There was some leaked footage of one of the prototypes that popped up a few years back.

I did love Road Rash, but a game without vehicles mentioned in the same article as Road Rash makes me think of that other game which was similar to Road Rash, Skitchin'.

Criterion, made a NFS game I truly want and a new Burnout would be a no brainer purchase.

But please somebody in EA give us a new Road Rash game.

Played so much Road Rash back in the day. I'd love a virtual console/PSN/XBL/steam whatever release of some of the older games.

Pardon me, I have to get napkin...I seem to be drooling... :D

This IS EA we're talking about here.

If they ever remake Road Rash it'll be as an online-only, cover based shooter.

HD remake (that's right, remake, not remaster) of Burnout 3 please!!

They just made a burnout game its called NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED.
