Ghost Recon Facebook Game Cancelled

Ghost Recon Facebook Game Cancelled

The Ghost Recon Facebook game, Ghost Recon Commander, has been cancelled.

The game was designed by Loot Drop. Brenda Romero, Loot Drop co-founder, announced the cancellation, tweeting, “Sad news. Today, Ghost Recon Commander was cancelled. As a result, we laid off a team of kick-ass developers. If you have openings, ping me.”

Ghost Recon Commander launched in May as a “companion game” to Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, which was released just after.

It’s been a rough month for Loot Drop and Romero. Earlier this month the studio launched a Kickstarter campaign for an “old school RPG” that also was ultimately cancelled.

  • Been scrolling through the kickstarter comments and it looks like the ‘old school RPG’ thing was all a massive scam. I didn’t support it because I was pretty sus, but it looks like it actually WAS a revenue raising scheme.

    • Well of course it was a revenue raising scheme. That’s what kickstarter is.

I don’t think it was a scam, though. I think it was just poorly planned out, and they voluntarily pulled the plug because they didn’t think that they were going to meet the necessary funding levels. A lot of developers set their goal a little lower than they actually should, because people are more likely to jump on a funded or almost-funded kickstarter.

If they set it low and later realised that their pitch wasn’t strong enough to blast through to the stretch goals then it was poorly planned on their behalf, but much less scammy for them to pull the plug than to keep forging ahead and actually take everyone’s money.

  • It was not a scam, read through it again, the people involved in LootDrop arent no name people they have been in the industry for 20+ years.

Cleveland Mark Blakemore is the real scam , Google him , he is trash
