The London Philharmonic Orchestra Is Giving Away Amazing Video Game Music For Free

It has possibly the worst album cover I have ever seen, but the old adage ‘never judge a book by its cover’ has never rang more true. The London Philharmonic Orchestra is currently putting together a second album focused on video games music, and it sounds rather spiffy. It’s also giving a way a track for free on iTunes, which you should totally go and download before someone changes their minds.

The album is set for release on November 7, and the complete tracklist is as follows.

– Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – Main Theme
– The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Far Horizons
– The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker – Dragon Roost Island
– Final Fantasy VII – One-Winged Angel
– Mass Effect 3 – A Future for the Krogan/An End Once And For All
– Halo – Never Forget/Peril
– Sonic the Hedgehog – A Symphonic Suite
– Chrono Trigger – Main Theme
– Luigi’s Mansion – Main Theme
– Kingdom Hearts – Fate of the Unknown
– Super Metroid – A Symphonic Poem
– Diablo III – Overture
– Batman: Arkham City – Main Theme
– Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Icarus Main Theme
– Fez – Adventure
– Portal – Still Alive
– Little Big Planet – Orb Of Dreamers (The Cosmic Imagisphere)

There are few in there I’m genuinely excited for: Chrono Trigger’s main theme is, of course, a humdinger, and I think Super Metroid may be have one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Dragon Roost Island is perhaps my favourite Zelda melody of all time and I think Fez had a really interesting pitch bending soundtrack, so I’m looking forward to hearing how an orchestra deals with that!

But yes, go — quickly — download the free Halo 3 song while you still can!
