This Is A Game About Collecting Garfield Trading Cards — Just Collecting Them

There is no crazy trading card battle system woven into Garfield Collections. It’s just a game about buying, selling and collecting virtual trading cards. I am not sure how that makes me feel.

Developer DeckDAQ wants to bring collecting and trading into the digital age, so instead of collecting and trading real items, Garfield Collections sees players filling albums with cards, purchasing booster packs and putting their dupes up for sale in an in-game market. Friends can join together in the game and swap cards back and forth.

At first I wasn’t sure this was even a game. Fiddling about I felt more like I was unlocking Garfield JPGs with fairly inane trivia on the back.

What DeckDAQ does here is make a game out of collecting. This isn’t about Garfield; it’s the card collector experience made into a social game. That’s rather ingenious.
