Today it’s time to nominate your favourite PC games of the year! This can be anything — retail, downloadable, indie — as long as it was released on the PC it’s eligible! This week we’ll take all your nominations, next week we’ll put it to a vote, and the week after that we’ll announce the winner.
Here are some of my own nominations to get things started, leave your own in the comments below…
— The Walking Dead
— Dark Souls
— Mass Effect 3
Now you! Drop your nominations in the comments below!
Mass Effect 3
The Walking Dead
Fall of The Samurai
It’s standalone, so it counts, right?
Hawken!
oh and HAWKEN!

I have it on computer, and will agree it looks amazing
Even on medium settings (I have a lowly HD6670) the demo looked great and ran smoothly. I’ll probably pick this up later.

I was running it on my HD6790 at Max settings with the Hi-res textures and MAN did it look good, still played pretty smooth too 😀
Diablo 3… There I’ve said it… Despite all the issues around the launch, the game is still really fun… Granted it wasn’t fun at launch, it only really got good at patch 1.0.5, but the game was never going to be perfect until Blizzard starting getting feedback on the game as a whole.. I’ve still managed to rack up over 200 hours of gameplay, something no other game this year has provided me. I guess people need to remember that D2 wasn’t perfect on launch and many people agree it wasn’t great until the expansion.
Max Payne 3
The Walking Dead!
Torchlight 2
and I’m going to be sneaky and nominate Baldur’s Gate: EE
The walking dead
max Payne 3
Dishonored
Diablo 3, Borderlands 2 and FTL are the only PC games that come to mind that came out this year.
I don’t think I can really give any of them the nod as my favourite though, despite dumping quite a few hours into them and defending Diablo 3 pretty fervently.
My favourite PC game of this year is Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty :/
Battlefield 3
Torchlight 2 please.
Far Cry 3, Planetside 2 or Guild Wars 2. Not that any of these games are perfect by any stretch but they have been the most enjoyable to me so far.
DotA 2
Borderlands 2
(Ok, so I only have it on PS3, but since it’s my fave PS3 game of the year and the PC looks better, it’s gotta be a winner!)
Dishonored, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Mass Effect 3 and FTL were highlights. And I’m going to call Far Cry 3 now too, despite only 30 minutes of play time..
Haven’t played many PC games this year (most of my time on PC was Skyrim or Minecraft/Tekkit), but Torchlight 2 and Walking Dead are both excellent.
Mark of the Ninja. I was really impressed with that game.
Torchlight II. I just bought it from the most recently steam sale, but I am enjoying it thoroughly.
Day Z – While on a technical level it’s pretty average – I think it encapsulates almost everything that the PC platform has going for it and it changed a genre forever.
Far Cry 3 – Any game where you can spend the first three hours of the game virtually bumming around ignoring the mission structure is a good game.
Planetside 2 – For similar reasons as Day Z. It’s something that’s only really possible on the PC platform.
Mass Effect 3
Torchlight 2
Spec Ops : The Line
Borderlands 2
Kingdoms of Amalur
Second the Torchlight 2 nomination.
XCOM
damn. theres too many to have just a top 5!
I wanna restrict myself to just 5, but I wanna say XCOM as well.
The Secret World. Wins it hands down.
I think Hitman: Absolution may be a late contender. Haven’t played enough of it to make a final judgement.
Dishonoured didn’t pull me in as much as I wanted it to. It’s still a great game but I didn’t play it as much as I thought I would.
I’m actually liking WOW: Mists of Pandaria. I think Blizzard did a fantastic job with this expansion. There is something for everyone.
Was Bastion this year? That was an excellent game.
max payne 3 was good too.
But really I don’t think I can give any of these games GOTY….
Walking Dead and FTL are the ones that stick for me.
Dark Souls
Walking Dead
Mark of the Ninja
Borderlands 2
The Walking Dead. Dishonored. Anna’s Quest.
Diablo 3
FTL
Mechwariior Online
Double post, please disregard.
Given that most of my PC games were acquired either via Steam sales or Humble Bundles, I’m going to have to default to Walking Dead as my favourite PC game of 2012. Everything else I played on PC this year is probably from 2011 or earlier.
Oh, there’s also FTL but I put Walking Dead above it. I also having gotten around to playing Anna’s Quest (sorry!) but I did buy and install it, so it’s on my list!
Dishonoured, perfection in a game
Dota 2, Ok not released but massive amounts of Beta testers
Planetside 2, Still buggy but massive potential
Guild Wars 2
* XCOM
* The Walking Dead
Deus Ex and Half Life 2!
NEEDS MOAR BORDERLANDS 2.
Does DLC count? If so, then Binding of Isaac: Wrath of the Lamb
Guild Wars 2
+1
Hitman: Absolution
Lego Batman 2
Oh man, I have a problem /o\
Chivalry… lol
jk jk
Max Payne 3 and FTL!!
XCOM, the only game this year that made me go … “Uh Oh, I should have been sleeping X hours ago …”
Torchlight 2
Borderlands 2
Love me some loot
Borderlands 2 and Guild Wars 2
XCOM
Planetside 2
And I haven’t actually played the PC one but it must be pretty similar, Dark Souls.
DOTA 2
Natrual Selection 2
XCom
Borderlands 2
XCOM: Enemy Unknown
Hitman absolution looks and plays amazing
And the walking dead
PC Only?
Guild Wars 2 hands down.
…but then again there havnt been many games that were not cross platform.
Borderlands 2!
XCOM : Enemy Unknown!
Dear Esther – a great little story, and an welcome break from guns and knives.
Mass Effectt 3
