Wreck-It Ralph Gets Top Score For This Weekend's Movie Box Office

It's not out in Australia until Boxing Day, but plenty of gamers in North America threw their goodwill towards the various stunts and trailers that Disney spooled out for Wreck-It Ralph this weekend gone — even if they made fun of modern-day games.

All the hype paid off, with the Disney film pulling in $US49.1 million over the weekend, according to Box Office Mojo. That makes it the highest grossing film ever released by animation division of the mega-corporation.

One thing to note is that Wreck-It Ralph isn't a movie based on a game, like the Tomb Raider or Resident Evil movies. It's one that's about the medium and the love it engenders. That just might be the secret to its success.

    December 26 :(

Hey, it's better than February in the UK..
But since when does Columbia get blockbusters before us?

I don't watch a lot of kids movies but I might actually see this.

Looks great! Comes out same day as the hobbit here, gonna be a fun boxing day!

I want to resist, but I'm not going to make it to December with cams out there.

Yep, i thought it was out here this week and was set to go see it. But december is too long for the plot/jokes not to be spilt on the sites i visit.

Nice Telescene copy should be good enough, they don't want my money any how other wise they would have released it earlier here in Australia

I wonder what the figures are for the piracy of this thing considering the staggered release dates.

Well, if this is out in decent quality on the internet before I can pay money to go and see it, I'll just do that then.

It's disrespectful and discriminatory to stagger releases in such a way.
