You Might Get Grand Theft Auto V On PC (And Wii U)

Grand Theft Auto IV was released on PC, but when Grand Theft Auto V was announced, a personal computer version was nowhere to be seen.

It's still nowhere to be seen, but Rockstar is at least talking about it, Dan Houser telling IGN that "Everything else is up for consideration. That's all I can give you."

"The main thing is we are not... we are a third-party publisher", Houser added, speaking about both a possible PC and Wii U version. "We're not Nintendo, we're not Sony, we're not Microsoft. We love all of them in different ways. But we can do what we want wherever there's the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market. If that's on Apple we put something on Apple. Wherever it might be. I think that's the fun in what we do. We see ourselves as a content company that uses technology. We don't make it; we use it to make the most fun stuff."

While a PC version seems likely, don't count out a Wii U edition either; GTA games have graced Nintendo handhelds in the past, and that Wii U gamepad must be interesting to somebody at Rockstar.

GTA V: Burning Questions Answered [IGN]

no PC version? what BS is this!?

regardless of the port for previous GTA being good/bad or weather or not its considered a major loss or not....I don't like it when major multiplatform titles skip the makes me fear for it as a platfrom

They only introduced the PC versions of GTA games well after the console launches, and they're always ports.

I don't see it as a threat for PC as a platform, I see it as Rockstar being out of touch.
How often do you see a new video of someone doing something awesome with a new mod in GTAIV.

I see it as a ploy to make the PC GTAV players feel thankful instead of infuriated when we get an inevitably shoddy and horribly inefficient port 8 months after console release.

There will be a PC version. . . around 12 months after the console release. Thats how Rockstar does its games.

      Unless you're Red Dead Redemption...

By GOD imagine a PC version of that and the mods that would've followed... O_O

Oh yea that would be ftw for sure, i still look up on my wall and look at the map that remains after such a good game.

You have the map on your wall as well? That's awesome.

Yeah well we have Rockstar San Diego to blame for that, apparently they don't do PC ports AT ALL. Kind of sad, because I really want to play RDR, I guess just another reason why I want a PS3...

It's a shame that in todays gaming world, there has to be a MIGHT in any title.

Clearly you'd prefer the NEVER back in the old days.

As @warcroft said, we WILL get a PC version, since Grand Theft Auto III, the series has been delayed at least SIX months for a PC release. Rockstar ain't about to shit over their PC fan base, if they do well.. I would hate to see the outcome.

That was suppose to be to weresmurf about RDR.
The reply function is failing on me.

Rockstar Are always releasing GTA news on steam so i think its pretty safe to say it will be coming to PC (even if there is a delay).

There's always a PC version, I don't know why they try to create doubt. Although IV crashed on every computer known to man (without any mods), it still ran 90% of the time, but surely they will get it right with V?

Max Payne 3 was a pretty good port, even if you needed a pretty decent computer to run it. But it was better optimised than GTA IV that's for sure.

To PC gamers - Buy a console or ask your fellow gamers to stop pirating
    No point in blaming publisher

You say that like console piracy is non existent; I mean in 2009 alone, MS banned over 1 million console pirates from XBL.
Plus, the fact that PC gamers are generally treated as an afterthought doesn't exactly help when you want them to hand over hard earned cash.

Considering the fact that console piracy is easier in the long run. Once you have installed the chip (one time only) you can then download anything and burn it to a blank dvd. PC gamers have to wait for cracks.

I'm just waiting for the console equivalent of AC2's DRM to be released, as consoles can get the games on release or before, but PC has to wait a week or 2 for the crackers to remove the DRM.

A PC version is just a "Might"....I mean I have no doubt that there will be a PC version at some point, but to even imply that is a bit disheartening.

Sure GTA IV wasn't the best of ports (was actually kind of crappy), but Max Payne 3's port wasn't all that bad, so I had high hopes.

I'd suggest not having ports of the GTA games contributed greatly to the GameCube's demise - it would be a shame to repeat this on the Wii U

    GTAV on Wii U....

    *jizz's in pants....

It would be good to see them really make good use of the touchscreen on the wiiU for GTAV, but i've never really understood the hype about GTA games, i usually just run around stirring up trouble, evade the police for as long as i can and then switch it off.

A lot of people keep saying "relax the pc version always comes after" - what bothers me is that they've now been directly asked about it, and had a chance to say "yep we'll get to PC in the future" but instead shrugged their shoulders saying "maybe". That's not a good sign at all.

well i think the devs are worried about PC piracy... that's how all devs think of PC gamer as...pirates...i have never pirated a game in my life...paid for all of them! i'am not a pirate of games...and they label me as one...just because i am a PC gamer. =/ sad that this is how they treat good people who supported them and gave them funds to develop product that made them popular... also console piracy is increasing as well...i have seen so many games getting leaked and being played way early before the official release dates...and devs talk about better business opportunity...=[

Is it just me or does the chick in the hat look like Hannah from Dexter?

Same old publishing house nonsense. This is why I am starting to back non-published projects, like through Kickstarter and Desura etc.. it's just ridiculous these days.. There will most likely be a PC port at some point.. and so I will wait and play it on the PC.. plenty of other games to play in the meantime :)

So we MIGHT see GTA IV on PC. Well, I MIGHT pay money dollars for a buggy, belayed-by-eight-months, log-into-xbox-social-rockstar-live-club port, or I MIGHT just download it. Food for thought.
