I guess today is the day for popular Facebook games to come to iOS. First King.com’s Candy Crush Saga, and now Zynga’s increasingly popular gem tapper Ruby Blast arrives, tied into but lacking the more recent features of its Facebook counterpart.
Ruby Blast on Facebook is enjoying a period of increased popularity due to the recent transformation into Ruby Blast Adventures, adding themed level progression similar to that of King.com’s Saga series of games.
Previously the Facebook game was a simple weekly tournament, which is exactly what the iPhone game is. Pop grouped gems for a minute, save your score, and then do it again until you’re on top of your friends leaderboard. At the end of the week you earn goodies to help bolster your performance in subsequent tournaments.
Ruby Blast is available now on iTunes in both annoying ad-riddled free and $0.99 ad-free paid versions.
This is the first Zynga arcade title to make the move mobile, but the iPhone version of Bubble Safari is coming soon, following in the footsteps of the game it apes, King.com’s Bubble Witch Saga.
