Bethesda Still Planning Skyrim DLC For PS3, Focusing On Dragonborn

It's no secret that Bethesda has had trouble with the PlayStation 3, particularly with Skyrim and its DLC. At the moment no DLC for the game has been released on the PS3, whilst Xbox owners have had Hearthfire, Dawnguard and now Dragonborn. Still, Bethesda has confirmed it is continuing to work on DLC for the PlayStation 3, but will now focus on delivering its latest, Dragonborn.

"On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn’t want folks to wait longer," stated the Bethesda Blog. "Once it’s ready to go for everyone, we’ll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC. Once we have a better idea of release timing and pricing, we’ll let you know."

It makes sense — Dragonborn has been extremely well received and, as the most recent DLC release, is the expansion most Skyrim fans are currently buzzing about. Personally, I'm considering breaking my strict 'can't be bothered with DLC really' perspective for it, despite having left Skyrim with literally hundreds of quests still to do.

"At the moment no DLC for the game has been released on the PS3 or PC" Umm what? My Dawnguard and Hearthfire on PC beg to seriously differ.
Anyway hope they get their act together. Looking at getting it for my incoming PS3 as well but not until the dlc is available.

I'm glad someone pointed this out, the only reason Xbox gets DLC earlier than PC is because they have an exclusivity deal with microsoft. Not because of technical difficulties as this article implies.

Which is odd since PCs are Microsoft anyway.

Yeah but Microsoft want people to buy their consoles and lets be honest, everyone who will ever buy windows already has it.

its not because they want PC users to buy a 360, its because bethesda no longer use G4WL and use steam instead. Fallout 3 used G4WL and the DLC was released the same day on the 360 and PC, but because of how shitty G4WL was and still continues to be, bethseda instead went with steam and mircosoft absolutely hated it

It's not so odd when you consider that MS earns a platform royalty from every game sold on the Xbox, while the Windows API is royalty free.

Sorry my bad. I don't know why I added that.

No dramas Mark. Actually figured it was something brought over from the US site. Did not even think to see who the Author was.

more like they really really fucked up and now can be bothered to try and get the DLCs to work at all. After all when hearthfire and Dawnguard were finally released on the PC they contained the exact same bugs that were present in the 360 versions. no attempt was made to fix them in th 2 months it took for those DLC to be released.

and so bethesda is rapidily approching the levels of EA and Activison.

How do you know no attempt was made? :)

simple. it took almost 2 months for DG to be released on the PC and European PC users got the exact same problem that 360 euro users had to deal with. Plus every other major bug that was present within the 360 version was still in the PC version.

Microsoft acquired exclusive rights so that all DLC would be released for the 360 at least one month before PC. Also, PC users have access bug fixes for both Dawnguard and Hearthfire whereas Xbox users don't:

"On PS3 in particular, we turned our attention to Dragonborn, as we thought it was the best content to release first, and we didn’t want folks to wait longer,"

Then stop making content for 360 and focus on fixing your fucked DLC.
Focusing on the Dragon Born DLC literally means that we have to wait longer because they've stopped working on the other problems. Get your shit together Bethesda. You're a fucking joke.

Hmm, I should probably start playing my copy of Skyrim I've had sitting there for nearly a year :\

They continue to use the technical difficulties excuse, but with games like Far Cry 3 just released - a huge open world game that runs almost identically on PS3 AND looks down right amazing, I'm really starting to really question the skill and integrity of Bethesda. Its the end of 2012 and they still haven't learnt how to use the PS3s hardware? Get your fucking act together, Bethesda. It took them months after Skyrims release to even make it playable!!.

    What an absolute joke.
