Off Topic: Album Of The Year

This week we’re in the process of announcing our games of the year, but as someone who tries to listen to at least a little bit of new music each year, I’ve also been thinking about my favourite albums of the year. I threw this topic out on Twitter last week, and I was shocked to realise just how much good stuff I missed out on, so I’ve seriously been playing catch up over the last couple of days. Now I’m really keen to hear all of your thoughts — what have been your favourite albums of 2012?

Here is my final top 5!

1. Young Man In America — Anais Mitchell
2. Visions — Grimes
3. Shrines — Purity Ring
4. Kindred — Burial
5. Life is Good — Nas

A lot of albums really disappointed me this year: I expected great things from the new The XX, Beach House and Animal Collective albums but was a little let down.

Anyway — super keen to hear some of your favourite album picks for 2012, drop them in the comments below!
