Paying Tribute To The Coolest Girls In The World (Even If They're Not Real)

Girls: Fact + Fiction is an exhibition running at the Light Grey Art Lab in Minneapolis, which will be running through January 4. It's awesome. Since most of you won't be able to make it in person though, here's a selection of some of the best pieces, most of which are available for purchase.

The show's theme is simple: a bunch of artists celebrating their favourite females, whether they be historical or fictional. So there are literary characters, yeah, but also heaps of examples from movies and games as well.

    Who's the cowgirl?

I think I've got everyone EXCEPT her, my first thought is Annie Oakleigh, but I don't actually know who that is either... I've got no cowboy knowledge >_>

I think it's Bonnie from Red Dead Redemption, but i'm not 100% sure

Looks a lot like the girl from the Coen Brothers' True Grit.

Loving the Carmen Sandiego. But who's the bloody lady in red?

Oh is the lady in red that noblewoman in eastern europe who in the medieval ages used to bathe in the blood of virgins to try to maintain her beauty?

I thought the cowgirl was the woman from Red Dead Redemption. Who are the three between Hermoine Granger and Princess Mononoke?

      That was Mononoke-hime? *facepalm*

Edit: I can only recognise her when she's riding one of the wolves or with Ashitaka.

the first one after Hermoine is most like Brienne of Tarth from the "Song of Ice & Fire" series.

The samurai woman is Tomoe, who was an historical figure who has appeared in games, manga, anime, et cetera.

Don't know how the woman with the head on her lap is though.

Woman with head on lap: Elizabeth Báthory
As Tooshay above suspected, it's the crazy Hungarian 'Blood Countess'

I am greatly amused that great historical figures are mistaken for popular fictitious characters. I'm certainly not immune, but Brienne of Tarth as Joan of Arc, and Bonnie as Calamity Jane amused me no end.

Guess this is a ban on everyone making fun of the younger generations who don't know who the Beatles are.

    I got them all first try and gosh darn it, I was so proud I had to make an account so I could write the list. It goes;
    Calamity Jane
    Hermione Granger
    Joan d'Arc
Tomeo Gozen, who you see a bunch in anime
Elizabeth Bathroy, the most prolific female serial killer in history (maybe)
    Princess Mononoke
    Samus Aran
    Ellen Ripley
    Eva 02- man I want Evangelion 3.0
    Carman Sandiego
    thats all folks!

Oh so close, but no cigar...

      It's Eva Unit 01...

Good work to the above people for trying to work these out who these are meant to be... but I'll ask the obvious question. Why aren't these labelled?

The linework on Princess Monoke is awesome! Love the Aliens piece as well.
