Pro League Of Legends Player Banned For Harassment

Proving that professional gamers can be no different to the casual players of the same game, League of Legends pro Christian Rivera has been banned from the game for "persistent toxic behaviour".

While the game's Tribunal recognises that "the decision to impact someone's career is not one we make lightly", they've been left with little choice, as Rivera -= who played as IWillDominate =- was a serial offender, having fronted the game's in-house authorities a whopping nine times, resulting in eight charges.

LoL's Tribunal says that his behaviour was so bad, in fact, that in terms of his "harassment score" within the game "he ranked at the top of the list of North American pro players and among the worst 0.7 per cent of all North American players".

What made him such a hassle to play against? Seems he "has a persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, offensive language and negative attitude".

The final verdict in his ruling, which has been approved by developers Riot Games, reads:

His persistent tendency to engage in verbal abuse and insults, his lack of cordial demeanor, and his treatment of less-skilled players is unacceptable for any player, especially a high-profile professional player who has a regular opportunity to lead the community by example.

Tough moves, you might think, but then the one thing holding League of Legends back more than anything is the reputation of its playerbase for being, well, toxic. If developers Riot want to start making examples of people, especially those who should be leading "by example", this is exactly what's going to start happening.

What a joke 0.7 worst players? 90% of north American players talk trash and act like a jerk. The worst player percentage should be around 60%

I'm not quite sure what you mean. Even if 90% of players had bad manners, as you suggest, some will still be worse than others. You could probably even rank every player in order of 'rudeness', hence easily being able to list the worst 1%, or the worst 0.7% as is the case here.

Regardless, what his point is, is that this game is poisonous and full of people who possibly have the worst attitudes in the entire gaming world. One reason why I have uninstalled the game and on indefinite hiatus. Someone please give me a new game to play :(

So what you are saying is someone in the worst 0.7% of a particularly bad community must be seriously @*#$ed!

Without hesitation, yes. I have never come across a community so foul and arrogant, it amazes me.

I partially agree - I've had some bad experiences with LoL... in fact last night I came across a particularly poor specimen. However, generally I've found the community not to be as toxic as people make out. I try to be polite and have fun and more often than not, it's reciprocated. Just my experience I guess.

Well if course not everyone is how I make them out to be, but there's more arrogant than there are polite people. When the honour system was introduced, it was ok because everyone wanted their honourable opponent badge. Now that everyone's got one, they're back to their usual selves.

Sounds like a typical gaming session on any online PvP game to me.. I grabbed CS:GO a few months back to give it a go (hehe) after not playing it for many years.. and I stopped playing a few short hours later.. I won't even bother going near CoD or other games like that because it's filled with exactly this type of players..

Mouthing off on a MOBA game, including to people perceived as your inferior?

I thought that was just part of the experience?

    How are DOTA2 palyers?

I've never played LoL and have yet to venture into DOTA2 online. I'm wondering how they compare in terms of toxicity or are they just the same LoL players transferred to a new game?
