Yes, But Will Your PC Run Crysis 3

True story: I actually bought my last PC specifically to play the original Crysis. Now that the minimum and recommended specs for Crysis 3 have been revealed it looks like I may have to finally upgrade!

Ah well, it's been a while. Maybe it's about time I sunk some money into PC gaming for a change. To be fair, it's not as if these required specs are completely crazy, just that my own PC is spectacularly old.

And the specs are...

Minimum System Operating Requirements For PC

Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 • DirectX 11 graphics card with 1Gb Video RAM • Dual core CPU • 2GB Memory (3GB on Vista)

• Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel): Nvidia GTS 450 Intel Core2 Duo 2.4 Ghz (E6600)

• Example 2 (AMD): AMD Radeon HD5770 AMD Athlon64 X2 2.7 Ghz (5200+)

Recommended System Operating Requirements For PC

Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 • DirectX 11 graphics card with 1GB Video RAM • Quad core GPU • 4GB Memory

• Example 1 (Nvidia/Intel): Nvidia GTX 560 Intel Core i3-530

• Example 2 (AMD): • AMD Radeon HD5870 • AMD Phenom II X2 565

Oh, and I thought it might be worth reposting that awesome Crysis 3 gameplay trailer just to remind myself, and everyone else, why it might be worthwhile upgrading.

And here is the high performance specs:

    Hi-Performance PC Specifications
    • Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
    • Latest DirectX 11 graphics card
    • Latest quad core CPU
    • 8GB Memory

    • NVidia GTX 680
    • Intel Core i7-2600k
    • Example 2 (AMD):

    • AMD Bulldozer FX4150

      Cheers for that!
Looks like I'll be comfy under high then. Considering my computer is a couple of months old it should be...

Shame I'm not that keen on Crysis...

Cheers - interesting that they stated the 2600K over the 2500K - wonder if it utilises the hyperthreading..

I have the i5-2500k but think it will still be fine. It's the only thing where my pc is a bit lower than the High settings.

Both this and Crysis 2 just feel like a cash in to me. Crytek games have always just been tech demos, you only buy them to show off your rig. The last offering was pretty pathetic visually (compared to the original) and this doesn't seem to be pushing anything either.

I miss the days of being in high school, sitting in class and just wanting to get home and stand on the beach awestruck at the visuals in the original Farcry (on my old Pentium 4 with Geforce 2!).

Yea mine will run it, probs at max also

      What about mine?
      I7 3770
      Gtx670
      8gb memory

It shoulht? I'm asking cos it struggles to hit 50fps on hitman absolution with ultra settings

i run a GTX 580 and i get max on Hitman Absolution on ultra, never lags or bottlenecks so your would be fine, also it doesn't need to always be at 60fps or even 50, as long as it stays above 30 your fine

I've got the same but with 16gig of Ram. I couldn't play the MP alpha on Ultra with a reasonable FPS. Although a mix of high and ultra had it working smoothly. A mix where I couldn't really even see the difference between the two.

*Gasp* A video game on Windows 8. KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE! :P
I have a 9600gt. That should be good enough. Right? ...right?
    ...
Man, I can't wait for this game. Looks like the best bits of 1 and 2 mixed together.

I had fun with the multiplayer beta. Ran reasonably well, looked great and was good fun. The videos I have seen so far on the single player look pretty top notch as well. Should be good!

Sorry mate, you NEED a DX11 card. DX9 and DX10 cards will not run at all.

Another game with no DX9, good to see.

Also, my PC will do the recommended fine, but it'll just miss the hi-performance mark though by the looks of it. Oh well, will still look awesome, can't wait!

Oh I hope their are some options to really crank the detail way up, cause as it stands this game won't come even close to putting the load on current gen tech the way the original Crysis did.
I'm kinda sad the game is not going to push my rig

I don't think anyone could really enjoy crysis if their specs are between the minimum and recommended. Gotta have those visuals!

The thing is though, the Crysis games have always actually been really scalable.

I know people that played the first crysis on crap machines because they turned all the settings down low and it still looked better than most things and ran well.

Crysis 2 was over optimised for low end machines and looked pretty amazing and ran pretty smooth on them. So hopefully while with this they are catering for the high end. They bring these things back for the low end.

Mine could probably run it... at 20FPS on all low settings :P

    I should be good...

    Win7 64bit
    12GB Corsair DDR3
    Sapphire HD7850 2G OC
    AMD Phenom X6 1090T

Whenever I see Crysis, I always think of Far Cry.. I have a hard time separating the two franchises in my mind.

Both have Aliens, so I can see your problem haha.

Yerp.. it started with the original Far Cry and original Crysis both had aliens (or at least mutations).. and both had amazing graphics... and ever since, I've always thought of them as being the same developers etc.. Far Cry / CryEngine is also another thing that tricks my brain into making the connection :)

Hmmm, I blow the recomended out of the water... but this is probably at the 1080P res, not at the 3x1080P I run...

Anyone else notice the typo in recommend specs? "Quad core GPU" Surely they mean't CPU, but then they follow that by giving examples of dual-core CPU's. Who the hell put this together.

Hah! I was just scrolling through the comments to see if it was mentioned as I was about to mention it myself... last comment!

A bit sad that my 4 year old PC is still above recommended specs...

damn my e-wang ain't big enough to play at max settings.

I have been looking for an excuse to ditch the old GTX570

I should be fine on high settings but then again I can Play hitman absolution on ultra with no lag.
    Intel Core i7-3720QM
    Nvidia Gtx 675m
    8 Gb DDR3 ram

Can anyone figure where my gtx285 falls on this?

GTX285 is not a DX11 graphics card, so you are unfortunately off the list and will need a new card to play.

Can't wait for this to come built my computer earlier in the year to run this on high and seems i should be good to do that. Only got GTX 580 but run them SLI should give it enough power to be smooth. Playing Far cry 3 atm with no lag and that has some pretty crazy good looking graphics.

i downloaded crysis open beta, but it lags a lot.
    here is my system requirements.
    Intel-core i7-3630QM CPU @2.40 GHz with turboboost 2.0 @ 3.4GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M
    24 gb RAM

could you please tell me why i lag? will i lag like this even when i buy the game?

i play every game with high requirements very smoothly and with a lot of fps in almost maximum settings. but why no crysis? :(

Ohhhhhhyaaaaaaaa Im gonna play this baby on high

    Nvidia GTX 690
    Windows 8 64 bit
    Corsair Vengance 16 X 2 GB RAM
    Intel Core i7-2600k
