This Week’s Windows Phone Charts: In With The Old, Out With The New

It’s not that the Windows Phone platform isn’t getting new games — it’s just that the older ones are just that good. We’ll run with that as the weekly Windows Phone charts return sleeker, sexier and more 5-hittier than ever before.

Getting rid of the extraneous images and wonky formatting that previously made the weekly charts such a pain in the arse to maintain makes it much easier to see just how stagnant the Windows Phone game marketplace. Games released when the platform first launch still linger in the rankings, waiting for something — anything better to come along. While iOS and Android have enjoyed (somewhat) a flurry of Final Fantasy releases as of late, Windows Phone gamers keep the original on the charts because it’s all they’ve got.

I’ve been trying to secure a Windows Phone 8 to aid in my coverage of this mobile Microsoft marketplace. At this point I’m not sure it’s even worth the trouble.

On that positive note, check out this week’s rankings and then come back next week to see if anything moved. Poking sticks will be provided.
