The launch of Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm is a big deal so, as you might expect, Blizzard is making a big deal of it. On March 11, one day before the launch of the expansion pack, Blizzard is hosting a massive launch party at Federation Square featuring live matches between top Australian Starcraft professionals.
What else? The event will also feature a live developer panel featuring the game’s Director, Dustin Browder who will be in attendance at Melbourne. The super talented ‘Mr Jack’, the Starcraft 3D artist known in real life as Luke Mancini, will also be doing some digital speed painting.
What else? Geeze you folks are hard to please! There will be a cosplay contest, music videos by Viva La Dirt League and a bunch of competitions throughout the night. The event is also being co-run by EB Games which means you’ll be able to pick up a copy of the game when the clock strikes midnight — since the game is set for release March 12.
“The StarCraft community has been anticipating Heart of the Swarm for a long time,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “I believe you will find it was worth the wait. We’re looking forward to celebrating the release by hosting an awesome global launch party in two weeks and delivering our best StarCraft content to date.”
I believe it was ‘some guy’ who said, ‘ain’t no part like a Starcraft party’. This sounds like a pretty stellar night to me. Have at it my Melbourne brethren.
