J.J. Abrams: Half-Life And Portal Movies Are In Early Development

Appearing with the director J.J. Abrams at D.I.C.E. Summit today, Valve's Gabe Newell said the company would "find out if there's a way we can work with you on a Portal and Half-Life movie."

Polygon reports that things may be a little further along than that. Speaking after the panel, Abrams told Polygon "We are really talking to Valve, we are going to be bringing on a writer, we have a lot of very interesting ideas."

However, "it's as real as as anything in Hollywood ever gets," he added. Which means it could be a sure thing, or could amount to nothing, or could take forever to bring to life. Like, well, Half-Life 3.

Interesting. Abrams seems to be the guy right now. But if he's going to be busy doing Star Wars, I wonder how long it'll take for us to see Portal or Half-Life.

Star Trek, Star Wars, Half-Life & Portal... This guy is going nuts for movies lately ^_^ lol

I approve. Needs some more info, though.

What a misleading title. The movies aren't in development, they're barely in the planning stages.

If they make Gordon Freeman talk, I will walk out of the cinema.

I really don't think he would be the right man for the job, really.

I'd really like to see what Neill Blomkamp can bring to a Valve franchise, District 9 blows any of Abrams movies out of the water.

We must have seen different versions. The one i saw was witty, humorous and quite boring.

      Really really ?

        YOUR MOTHER! :D

        Yes, really :p

Better not finish a Half Life movie on a cliffhanger.
