Monster Hunter Looks Better Than Ever On The Wii U

No one can doubt that Monster Hunter is a phenomenal success in Japan. One iteration or another has been on every major console of the last generation (sans the Nintendo DS). So it is no surprise that when the Wii U launched in Japan, it had a Monster Hunter to go along with it: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on the Wii U is an enhanced version of the Wii game Monster Hunter Tri, now with HD graphics and cross platform support with the 3DS version of the game. Not only can saved games be passed between the Wii U and 3DS versions, but also the two games can connect for local coop play.

Like all Monster Hunter games, it's full of co-op monster fighting in all its glory — including more than a few new monsters and several classic monsters sporting new move sets.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate was released in Japan on December 10, 2012, for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It will be released on both systems in Australia on March 23, 2013. Stay tuned for the full preview early next week.

The cross-platform play sounds extremely exciting if you plan to buy both versions, the question remains how graphically gimped is the 3DS version?

I'll atleast get the Wii U version.

The 3DS version's been out for a while in Japan so you can probably go look at some screenshots. Hint: the 3DS is not much more powerful than the PSP was.

supes excited for this only getting it for the 3DS what irks me is that the 3DS version does not support online play :/

    >.< PS VITA !!!! >.< a man can only dream !

Shame they region locked the multiplayer in this. Went from being a definite buy to something I might consider picking up once it hits the bargain bin.

27 seconds in, was I the only one who saw that guy running and thought "Hey look, it's Cid from FF7"

This is going to be the start of a whole new outlook for the Wii U. Yes its not a massive Nintendo title to many, but it will be a start of what is to come from Nintendo this year.

I'd almost buy a WiiU for this game, but prolly not.
