Square Enix Won't Release Final Fantasy Type-0 In North America, So Fans Are Taking Over

It's been a year and a half since Square Enix released the PSP role-playing game Final Fantasy Type-0 in Japan, and the publisher has not yet said a word about a possible U.S. release.

Enter the fans. A group of dedicated translators are making their own English version of Type-0, and you can see the first footage above.

I'll be following this one closely. Buzz out of Japan suggests that Type-0 is excellent, and if Square Enix won't let us play it, at least these guys might.

I've reached out to Square Enix to ask what they think of this whole thing, and whether it will affect plans to rebrand Final Fantasy Type-0 as a browser game release Type-0 outside of Japan.

probs the same team who did KH final mix 2 and KHBBS Final Mix

"affect plans to rebrand Final Fantasy Type-0 as a browser game"

    Source or troll?

Just give us the damn game Squeenix and Bravely Default while your at it. My money is burning a hole in my pocket.

There hasn't been a posting in that translation groups forum since July last year...

"I’ve reached out to Square Enix to ask what they think of this whole thing..."

I suspect it will start with a "Cease" and end with a "Desist".

It's like they're afraid of money...

Given that it's on PSP and the PSP is basically dead outside of niche releases, I think it's more that they like money too much.

Would need a PS3 or PSV or maybe 3DS port to justify the investment.

Digital PSP releases still exist and can be played on the Vita.

Yes, for niche titles. Squenix would want to get a much bigger return than they could get off a digital PSP release, big RPGs like that are extremely expensive to localize.

        oh wow are you wrong...
You are right about the porting, just not the systems...
If they were to port it for systems other than PSP it will be for IOS, then (eventually) Android, and charge about $20 dollars...

I doubt that a lot but it's Square so I guess it's plausible maybe.

    time to relearn the japanese

damnit.. so many good jrpgs out there and only a bit is localized
