The Batmobile, Totally Geeked Out

Hong Kong toy company Hot Toys recently held an “itasha” competition to see who could cover its Batmobile/Tumbler model in nerd cool the best in hopes of winning Batman figurines.

In Japanese, the slang “itasha” (痛車) literally means “painmobile”. These sticker-covered cars have become a way for Japanese geeks to show their nerd pride while cruising down the street.

Here are three of the top entries, with the American flag Batmobile taking the Gran Prix and winning all of Hot Toys’ Dark Knight Rises merch. That’s three years worth of loot.

While it didn’t come in first place, I quite like this Gotham Police Department Batmobile.
