Dragon Quest 7 hit the shelves today, so I guess it means that the most anticipated game of 2013 in Japan is already out and it’s nothing but downhill from here… Just kidding. It’s natural for games to increase in popularity as their release approaches and they become more imbedded into the public consciousness. Still, this is a good indicator of where each of these upcoming games are in the minds of the general gaming public.

  • Obv all lies, no one like FF13 let alone wants the 3rd title 😛

You know the worst part of that list, over 1/3 will never make it out of japan( all those vita/psp) and i would have bought nearly all of them…..

    • I would have presumed that was racist hate if I didn’t know that you are Mr Positive.
Supporting the local anything is pretty important to Japanese culture, as well it’s taste and the old motion sickness thing with FPS.

      • D: Definitely no racial hate intended or felt. Haha! Find it genuinely cool they’ve got their own thing going on even if those types of games aren’t my thing.

Edit: I basically do the same with western stuff any ways. My list of most anticipated games for the year is all western stuff. Just an aesthetic thing! Not surprised the same thing happens the other way round!

  • This list makes me very sad. I cannot stand portable consoles, but many of those games look really good. Sigh. Wtb Android going huge in Japan so we can get at least Ouya versions of the portable stuff rather than have it locked to a $300 Sony proprietary pc.

  • I’m actually quite surprised to see GTA5 on that list. I’m always surprised when Japan likes a western thing.

  • I’m surprised lightning return is even top 10, I wonder the extent of Square’s relationship with Famitsu. Even for the last game Famitsu gave FFXIII-2 a 40/40, which is absurd considering the game still contains many obviously flaws and far is from being perfect.
