Two Dudes Make Little Girl Wait To Play Game Made For Little Girls

At most arcades in Japan, there's a section for kids. The kiddy games are often card (or plastic puck) based. There are kiddy arcade games aimed at little boys and ones aimed at little girls. Sounds like these two clowns didn't get the message.

This photo was snapped at a Sega arcade in Japan. Two dudes sit at a frilly cabinet for kiddy game Aikatsu!, a card-based magical girl title. Behind them, a little girl is forced to wait for them to finish. The image has been retweeted over 20,000 times.

"OK, this is scary," wrote one commenter on 2ch, Japan's largest web forum. "Yep, this ain't right," added another.

"Look, there's nothing wrong with playing per usual after you've paid, right?!" said yet another commenter. "Still, this is creepy."

Remember! If you venture into arcades, there are some games for adults that you should play. There are other games you might want to play, but don't.

Unless there isn't line. Then play all the magical girl games you want.

Anyone seen Wreck It Ralph. There's almost the exact scene

why shouldn't they be allowed to play it?

agreed. and ... I get the impression the girl is watching them play (thus learning how to play), rather than being frustrated at being denied. :)

      Agree

Its easier for people to critizise then to use their brains for 5 minutes. Any picture can be taken out of context

On top of what trav73 said, she might just be running buy and stopped to watch for a second, or they might be her brothers/cousins helping to pass a section of the game for her

Unless we were there, we dont know the context - but that wont stop the PC (Politically Correct) Internet Keyboard brigade from making negative comments

(realising how ironic this post sounds now...)

It's actually you being the PC brigade....

'Oh don't take it out of context, you don't know what happened, they might just be helping her through a section of the game...' gimme a break. It's creepy.

Agreed, regardless of the circumstances they are paying customers who paid to use the machine first.

I don't think that its a horrible lesson that kids learn in society they sometimes have to wait for others before they get a chance to do something.

Women and children first. That means girls are the very first (being women children). IF she wanted to play, they should have let her.

I thought we were going for gender equality now?

But seriously, if they were already in the middle of a game, it doesn't matter who wants it, they've gotta wait until at least that one game is done. By your logic, if you're in the middle of taking a dump in a toilet and a woman/child needs to use it, you gotta stop mid-dump and let them go first.

I thought we were going for gender equality now?

Being polite doesn't detract from gender equality. You reminded me of the woman who got huffy when I offered her my seat on the overcrowded bus. Feminism gone mad!

If it is a kids game, you gotta defer to kids. Pokemon doesn't count.

No, I made sure my house has two toilets.

You failed to answer my last point and therefore, the point before it by dodging the statement. Or maybe I need to be extremely specific.

There is ONE toilet. You are on it mid-dump. A woman/child needs to use the toilet.

And the gender equality thing was made in jest. I've had femme-nazis get all crappy at me for opening the door for them or motioning for them to go first but I still do it.

Hmm /nods. We have found a point of common ground then. Wanna catch up for a coffee and exchange similar experiences?

There is never one toilet. At home there is two, away from home I hold it until I get home. In the unfortunate event that nature takes over and I must go in public, toilets are seperated by gender so I don't have to beat a girl child to death to relieve myself.

If I found myself in the scenario you suggest my solution would be to finish as quickly as possible.

Sure! I'd love to meet up for coffee.

And there you go, as you said, you'd finish up as quickly as possible, not stop whatever you're doing and jump off to let another person on.

I ran out of replys, but:

Sure! I'd love to meet up for coffee.
on second thoughts, i think your buff hard pecs would make me look bad.

                  1) Toilets are designed for adults and children, that game is designed solely for children. Hence the adults playing it are indulging in a guilty pleasure which, like other guilty pleasures such as mastrubating, you should stop if caught.

                  2) The premise of the article is that they were ignoring the child and kept playing anyway (I agree with the other posters though that it is possible the image has been taking out of context). If they were 'wrapping things up' that woudl be more acceptable.

I don't know what rich fantasy world you live in, but in my house and many other houses there is only one toilet :p

If you do end up going for coffee.. make sure you use the toilet first.. :)

Another piss-weak mangina to ruin our already crumbling society...

I think you are taking this too seriously. If comments in a half story like this one reduces you to name calling, then I think you need a holiday mate.

Give them a break, they're trying to pick up.

OH MAN IS THAT A POKEMON ARCADE GAME IN THE BACKGROUND
I would be so all over that all the time.

Clearly they don't fit into a nice, neat category.. the shame of it to think that people aren't all the same.

The fact the game has appeal to more than just the target audience is great.. and that there are people in the world who can enjoy a game designed for the opposite sex is also great. So what if she had to wait.. they wanted to play the game.. they paid to play the game.. they played the game. Is it their fault it is a popular game and the arcade chose not to have enough copies of the arcade machine available? I think this speaks more towards the arcade's purchasing policy than the people playing this specific game.

And these "dudes" actually look quite young themselves.. maybe in their early teens.

I'd be surprised if this groundbreaking reportage didn't win a Pulitzer this year.

Prompted some valuable debate atleast :P

Nope, it prompted an idiotic argument dreamt up by someone who clearly argues simply for the sake of it.

I stand by all of my comments. I didn't expect the suggestion of letting a child play a child's game would be so offensive. Although the people involved in said debate didn't seem to mind hashing out the different points of view.

I don't know how that game works, but the game I've seen where it gives you physical cards depending on how well you do (rarer/better cards for higher scores) may mean they are trying to get her better cards one of them may be related to her.

I'm a firm believer in the concept of waiting your turn, would it have mattered if it was an Arcade racer (Initial D, Midnight Tune) she wanted to play? Not to me. If I have one credit in the machine (and I tend to do 1 at a time these days) I'll give it up to people waiting. My early video game experience was the Arcade machine in the Fish and Chip shop or corner store. If somebody was playing it you just had to wait. The girl in the photo looked happy enough to wait.

It's hard to tell, but the "dude" on the right kinda looks like a girl.

What I learned from this article (and comments):

    1) People are not allowed to play games that interest them. They must conform to society's opinions and beliefs and play only the games that are socially permissible for someone of their age and gender to do so. I guess this kinda sets the whole gender equality in games thing back a bit.

    2) Children should be spoiled and given what they want, when they want it simply by virtue of being a child.

    3) We must always jump to the worst possible conclusion given a *single* picture with no context. I mean, we certainly couldn't entertain the possibility that the two on the game (Are they verified to be male?) are trying to win something for the girl and being perfectly polite strangers.

/sarcasm. If you need me, I'll be playing Dudebroshooter of Dutiful Honour 2013 because that's all I am allowed to play.

    gotta love the whiteknights
