With Four Days To Go, Chris Taylor Cancels Wildman Kickstarter

Designer Chris Taylor has canceled his troubled Kickstarter, just four days before funding was scheduled to end.

Wildman, an action-role-playing game that promised to be "evolutionary," had earned roughly $US504,000, more than half a million short of its $US1.1 million goal. The Kickstarter was due to end on Friday.

Here's the update they just posted:

Greetings Kickstarters.

We have some news today. We are cancelling the Wildman Kickstarter.

At this point, it makes sense for us to focus our attention on other ways to keep Gas Powered Games running. Unfortunately, we are unable to share any specifics in public. When we have news to share, we will be posting it on our site. If you want status updates, or if you want to continue discussing Wildman and/or this Kickstarter, please consider migrating over to forums.gaspowered.com.

We are profoundly grateful to those of you who backed this project and Gas Powered Games. Your passion and hard work put us in a position to write this exciting new chapter in the history of GPG.

I just didn't get it?? It wasn't something I was inclined to play without knowing a lot more. It sucks but welcome to the, "consumer votes with wallet" downside of Crowd Funding.

Yeah something about the pitch didn't grab me.

Chris Taylor lost my respect after he let Square Enix ruin the SupCom brand. When you look at the ridiculous success of the Planetary Annihilation KickStarter I can't understand why Gas Powered Games and Cris Taylor were not working on something like this long before Uber took it up.

Didnt really have a choice its not like all the big brands were lining up to publish sc2

You make a valid point wintersoldier. However, you fail to understand the butthurt SupCom2 left me with...

You lost all respect for a human being because of a game he made?

No, I lost my respect for him as a game developer worth my time, money and interest because he sold out on what I had thought made him worthwhile, being Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander.

        Totally read SC2 as Starcraft 2 :p
        Total mind fuck.
