Yes, An Animated Farmville Series Is Happening. And Yes, It's Being Produced By Brett Ratner

Look, I've always tried to be open minded about Facebook games. I totally played Bubble Witch Saga, because I don't want to be the kind of guy who writes things off before trying them myself, but come on! An animated Farmville series? Is this necessary? And produced by Brett Ratner? What the hell is going on here!

“FARMVILLE is one of the most exciting brands out there today and its cross-platform opportunities are endless.," said Ratner, in a statement. "I am thrilled to be expanding the brand with existing fans and also engaging a whole new audience."

'Brand', 'cross-platform, 'expanding', 'engaging'. These are the words that herald our doom. Say those words in front of the mirror and Brett Ratner will appear behind you in a cloud of smoke and sweaty dollar bills. He will haunt your nightmares. He will smother your family while they sleep. He will create a half-hour long animated Farmville series. He will do that and then he will drink your orange juice straight from the carton.

That monster.

NO. NO NO NO! THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!

This makes me angry and it’s not because this exists. It’s because I can think of about a thousand video games I would want an animated series for before Farmville. God dammit the world is not fair.

How do they even justify this? Did they look at Rovio making Angry Birds cartoons and think they could capitalise on the casual game to cartoon market? Or did they just look at the hundreds of existing shows about farms and convince themselves another one was needed because this one would be different, because it's based on a social game?

Whatever it is, I'm sure you'll only be able to watch 5 minutes per day, or pay to watch more in the same day. Alternatively, you can get friends to sign up in order to watch more in a day.

As someone who doesn't use Facebook (and therefore doesn't play Farmville), and as someone who still hasn't forgiven Ratner for screwing up X-Men 3, my care factor for this is zero.

Be glad thats its farmville and not something important being Ratner'd
