Community Kudos

Community Kudos. It is here.

It’s the last day of the week and I am off the wagon in a very big way. I’ve just drank four cans of Pepsi Max/Coke Zero and my hands are almost too shakey to type. I think I’m about to get a nosebleed. I should probably get on with writing this post before I suffer an overwhelming brain haemorrhage.

It seemed like D.C. has had a bit of a frustrating week on the ol’ Kotakus. Earlier in the week I got a tweet from him saying that his comments weren’t going through. Usually approving a few comments on the back end of our site fixes that problem, but this time it didn’t work. Even web wizard Ben White couldn’t figure out the problem.

Of course you guys and girls figured it out on your own — just out of curiousity, how did you fix it D.C?

Anyways, all these shenanigans resulted in a nom from D.C..

D.C.
It’s Tuesday, but I’d like to nominate @virus__ for helping me with my account troubles. (A solution so damn simple, I feel like an idiot.) Meant a whole damn lot. Also thanks to you guys at Kotaku, Mark and Ben in particular for investigating this particular brand of screwiness. Much appreciated. It’s good to be back! I’ve got a renewed appreciation for how much I love the community here!

Glad you’re back dude! And sorry we couldn’t fix it for you back here. Weird.

Something important happened this week — QLD finally signed off on R18+, just in time for Australia’s first R18+ game releasing next week. We’ve been breaking a lot of R18+ news here at Kotaku, but a lot of that couldn’t have happened without some help from some incredible people.

That’s where McGarnical’s kudos nomination comes in.

McGarnical
I’d like to nominate Choc for his tireless and passionate pursuit of all things classification. He’s a frequent source of useful analysis and insight on Twitter and on Kotaku AU comments. In addition to that, he’s created a brilliant little Twitter bot which posts any updates from the classification board database.

I’d like to second this nomination. It’s been a good long while since I’ve written an R18+ story that didn’t involve at least some help or input from Choc. This guy has been on the ball throughout the entire process and has an encyclopedic knowledge of this stuff. Actually — thanks to both of you — McGarnical and Choc. Thanks for all your help.

Lol ‘Helpius’. I love this guy.

They should know why they were nommed, but they can make up their own reasons!

This guy! This guy!

Actually nom lists seemed to be the order of the week! This one from #35 was by far the longest…

#35
Shiggy
Doc What
Ruffleberg
Blaghman
Rize
Harli
Effluvium Boy
Hugo the Hungarian Barbarian
Alex Pants
CJ
Batguy
Gorzilla
Rocketman
Cakesmith

For coming out last weekend for birthday hijinks.

I thought Rize’s email opener was the best.

It was just this video…

LOL.

Rize also gets bonus points for mentioning ‘porridge’ in his noms.

Rize
I’d like to provide a nom of porridge-level goodness to Cakesmith for getting dragged all the way back into Sydney CBD by Blaghman and myself Sunday after an epic Saturday night out, and not complaining about having to play tour guide to two people with no strong opinions of doing anything.

I’d also like to give an anti-nom of I-ran-out-of-porridge-yesterday-and-forgot-and-subsequently-didn’t-have-porridge-this-morning-how-crappy-is-that-level badness to Spaghett. He mentioned he was getting the Tomb Raider Collector’s Edition, and I ended up pre-ordering one shortly thereafter. That’s totally his fault, right??? RIGHT?!?

Yes. Totally his fault. And speaking of Spaghett — he was nommed by Ben J for three very specific reasons.

Ben J
My first nom, just thanking Spaghett for being awesome and gifting me Binding of Issac!

Oh and for being a fan of Tim and Eric!

Man, you guys should talk to Ben White — he absolutely never ever stops talking about that show. That’s probably why he couldn’t fix the D.C. issue. Tim and Eric.

Spaghett was also part of Ash’s noms this week. I love his noms because he adds the ‘@’ sign to everyone!

Ash
I’d like to make the following nominations for Community Kudos please:

1) @spaghett for becoming the TAY Santa and bringing Christmas early with all his game gifting – thanks for Cave Story @spaghett!

2) @shane for his rad Souls stories – write on, brother!

3) The Potaku podcast crew, for keeping me company on the drive to and from work – I’m lonely no more 🙂

Oh, and Strange — Welbot is really gutted you bailed on Dreamworld. He almost nominated you for Anti-Kudos. Almost. Not quite!

In other news — you guys went to Dreamworld? IT’S MY DREAM TO GO TO DREAMWORLD!

Okay everyone have a great weekend — congrats to Spaghett! You are the winner of this week’s Community Kudos.
