Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows Brings Turtle Power Back To Video Games

Ready to feel like a teenager again? No? Me neither. But one part of gamers' youths will coming back in the form of four mutated reptile who wield deadly martial arts weapons.

After a report surfaced yesterday of a new TMNT game, Activision has released info on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows:

Activision Publishing, Inc. today announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™: Out of the Shadows, a new, digital download-only video game inspired by Nickelodeon's new hit animated series, will be available this summer. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows is a third-person brawler game set in New York City, taking gamers through articulated, true-to-life environments filled with action-packed adventures as Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Featuring an original hyper-realistic 3D-style, gamers can experience four-player online co-op play while stomping out the Foot Clan and unleashing turtle torment on any foe that gets in their way.

With an immersive world, deep character development, and an intuitive, skill-based combat system built around combo-driven action, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows puts ‘Turtle Power' in players' hands.

Dev Studio Red Fly is making the game. Previously, they has worked on several WII and 3DS titles including Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, Thor: God of Thunder and Ghostbusters: The Video Game (which was also on PS2). Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows should be out mid 2013 as a digital download on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam.

looks pretty cool :) If it had similar combat to arkham city then we'd be cooking with gas!

That voiceover at the end is amazing.

    Not reptiles.

    Edit: Are reptiles.

Verne from Over The Hedge respectfully disagrees. And he should know.

Don't get me wrong i'm excited to check this out, but why the FREAKING HELL do these Turtles not look anything like the Turtles currently starring in the cartoon this game is supposedly based off?
The cartoon should dictate how the Turtles look in this generation!
But no, the Turtles in this game have mong faces and seperately defined toes.
WHAT IS THIS MADNESS? Have they even seen the new cartoon? Shits me to tears this does.
I'm just not sure i can focus on other important matters in my life now i have this to worry about.

I think they should look more like the original comics.

Yeah or that, but if you haven't seen the new cartoon i'd highly recommend it, not only do the characters look awesome, the action and animation are amazing!

...so the mind boggles why they wouldn't replicate the look from the current show.
Sorry guys but my day's ruined over this, cancel my 4:00pm and tell my girlfriend she can find me standing on the closest ledge unless my demands are met.

oh my god dude, can you not see the word "Inspired" up there? It's not based on the new show, only inspired from it, which means someone thought "hey...that turtle show is pretty neat, lets make a turtle game". That's inspiration, It doesn't mean just because there is a new show, that they have to make games only in that style. These turtles look fine, the game looks OK what from we can see, the dev studio doesn't really get my hopes up, but when the game is released we'll be able to play it and make up our own minds. Quit trying to force your op opinions on people.

Haha thanks for the advice mate but honestly my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek, i didn't have a 4pm appointment nor was i about to perch myself on a ledge over a videogame..
But i am a passionate Turtles fan and i love the new cartoon so i was just really hoping for literally the same models/art style in this new game, it seems a bit weird to me that they wouldn't do that, but yes i understand it's "inspired" and not "based" on it, so if they want to incorporate mixed styles from previous Turtle generations then that's fine by me, really.
I agree the game looks OK and i would be happy to meet you online for a game or two on release so we can revel in the joy together.

Good for you. I can't stand the look of the new show. Animation's nice, at least, but it's not my thing and TMNT was a big part of my childhood.

Hmm, I'm not a fan of the latest paper craft style animation.

Given the trailer shows the normal two-toe turtles (cartoon has three-toes) and looks nothing like the cartoon, I'd guess this is more based on the also mostly excellent current comic series which is blending elements from all the previous incarnations together.

I've seen the new cartoon. I prefer the look of this game. Different strokes for different folks.

Online co-op? No local multiplayer, no sale.

Dear MS and Sony, don't kill off the real social gaming then change the definition and try to sell online gaming back to us as social. It's not "social gaming" if I have to send my friends home to play with them.
Shared and splitscreen gaming was one of the things I was looking forward to most when I got my first hdtv. I haven't forgotten. Give me back a reason to own more than one controller that isn't a sports/fighting/arcade game.

Wow that would piss me off too. Shouldn't even need split screen just some double dragon style action. But alas its fine for me because I'll be getting mine on steam.
And for all the jumping up and down about lack of LAN on D3, we only played Torchlight 2 online because no one can be bothered backing up their pc's and driving over anymore. Mumble Server plus these sorts of games is awesome.
      Plus my friends are ugly.

Just bring the 'Arcade' game and/or "Turtles in Time' to xbox live or psn.
    I will be happy enough!

turtles had 2 toes in everything not 3 LOL!!
But i agree these turtles look like lizards! Activison time to go back to redesign!

The turtles in the current cartoon do, in fact, have three toed feet.

If you're not ready to be a teenager again, go to youtube and search for "Pizza Time". Its the top response.
