Breaking: Alleged ‘Leader’ Of LulzSec Arrested By Australian Federal Police

As reported by the ABC, the Australian Federal Police has announced that it has arrested the alleged leader of Lulzsec, a 24 year old man living in Point Claire in the Central Coast. Lulzsec is the notorious hacking group that attacked Sony in response to its legal action against George ‘Geohotz’ Hotz for jailbreaking the PlayStation 3.

We’ve heard relatively little from Lulzsec recently, but at one point it was an extremely active group, conducting attacks on News Corporation.

The Lulzsec founding member known as Sabu apparently made a plea deal to help law enforcement agencies track down other major members of the group. To date six of the seven core members have already been arrested, so we could conclude that this arrest makes it seven.

The Australian Federal Police is holding a press conference at 10.30am today regarding the arrest today. More information as we get it.
