Microsoft is planning an event, set for May 21, that many observers believe will host the announcement of the next generation Xbox console.
It was initially tech blogger Paul Thurrot who unearthed the existence of the event, but now The Verge is reporting that “[s]ources familiar with Microsoft’s Xbox plans have confirmed that this event will focus on revealing the first details of the next Xbox.
We’ve attempted to get in contact with Microsoft locally — we don’t expect that anyone will be able to officially confirm the existence of a next generation console, but it is possible that Microsoft will be able to confirm that such an event exists.
Rumours had initially specified April as the reveal date for Microsoft’s next home console, so we’re taking this with the proverbial pinch of salt. We’ll update when we hear back from Microsoft.
