Alright, quick disclaimer — I don’t like to make a habit of linking to any old article written about video games but this Cracked article is simply so hilarious, so out there that I just had to share. Even if you’re not a fan of Cracked, this is completely unmissable.
This article had me in tears.
It’s a timely reminder of how hilariously bad video game endings can be. I won’t spoil it for you because reading through the rundown is part of the fun. But my personal favourite is the Mortal Kombat 4 ending.
It’s hard to put into words just how bad that acting is. But if I had to compare it to something in the real world, it would be when a little kid is playing with action figures, and he just starts slapping them together, making up his own little script as he goes along, changing his voice ever so slightly to differentiate between the two characters that he’s created. I’m positive that’s exactly what’s going on in that cut scene.
In fact, now that I think about it — fighting games always had the best worst endings, mainly because each character had to have their own ending. You could almost visibly see the moment where everyone stopped giving a shit.
This is the best thing I’ve read all week.
