   I wish they made it friendlier for new players. I’ve found myself trying so many times, but its so hard to break into.

      CCP has made an effort to explain things a little better in the new tutorials. And made it harder for older players to mess with the new guys by adding a smart little safety switch that stops you from doing things that allow other players to kill you. There is also a few player run corps set up to show new players the ropes like EVE University or corps like Red vs Blue that are all about showing new guys how to pvp.

      How much friendlier can they possibly make it? They’ve made it plenty friendly over the years. Hell I remember when there was barely even a proper tutorial. Now you get hand held through the start.

         New players need more than just a tutorial. They still find it hard to get into despite all the improvements. Without the support of a good corporation in EVE, the social aspect of the game just isn’t there and that is one of the main things that makes it great. If you’re new to the game or returning from a long break and want to learn the ropes again, I can highly recommend EVE University or one of the Red vs Blue Alliances. Both of those have links to a lot of the large sovereignty-holding alliances if you want to get into the one of the major nullsec PvP groups.

         My background: I first started playing EVE Online in 2004, gave up for a couple of years and returned in 2006. I have been a high-sec player, a miner, a griefer, a fleet commander, a capital pilot and even the CEO of a corporation. None of these activities makes the game as much fun as the people I play it with. Right now, I’m running a 3 week “Introduction to EVE Online” course for 10 of my friends to smooth out the learning curve.

   This might be what I need to jump back in as well.
   I love the community behind this game and the lore. I have not played in a couple of years though and it is going to be hard to figure out where I left off.

   Until I can control Eve ships with a similar system to how I used to play Freelancer, I’m not interested… I find the control system to be incredibly distancing from what is actually happening on-screen – and the only reason I still don’t play this game.
