Former Yakuza Injured In Shooting At An Osaka Game Centre

In the afternoon of March 31, a shooting broke out at a game centre in Osaka. According to Jiji Press, a former high-level yakuza was grazed in the left part of his chest. He was taken to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover. The wounded man was apparently a former boss in the Yamaguchi-gumi, one of Japan’s largest yakuza organisations.

The “game centre”, as an employee called it and how it’s being called in the Japanese press, is on the building’s first floor. Supposedly, it has several computers. There was no mention of it being an arcade style game centre in the traditional sense with game cabinets.

The Asahi Shimbun reports that the same building houses several other businesses, including prostitution services — which isn’t that unusual. From photos, the establishment does not look like your typical Japanese game center; however, it very well could be. Thankfully, there were no customers present at the time of the shooting.

The gunman was wearing a mask and white clothing. Police are currently looking for the suspected shooter.
