Sorry, There Will Not Be A New King’s Quest Game From The Walking Dead Studio

King’s Quest is one of the most storied franchises in adventure game history. It’s also a series that, terrible fan-made reboot aside, hasn’t been seen since 1998’s Mask of Eternity.

Telltale, of Walking Dead fame, had bought the rights to franchise a few years back, but have this week decided it’s actually not for them, handing them back to Activision.

A statement issued by Telltale to Digital Trends reads:

While we deeply love King’s Quest here at Telltale, we can confirm that we are no longer working on the franchise. There was a time last year that we investigated partnering with third party developers to produce the game as a partnership but decided against outsourcing. We are not privy to what plans Activision has for the franchise, if any.

Here’s hoping this means that the next Call of Duty drops zombies in favour of a mode where you storm a white castle wearing tights and a Tyrolean hat.

Activision is planning something for ‘King’s Quest’ after recovering the rights from Telltale Games [Digital Trends]
