   tilt shift photography: interesting and related to gaming like stage magicians are to GPU makers (i.e. not much at all)

      I don’t know about that – consider how important figurative smoke and mirrors were to get the most out of older hardware, before it became possible to advance the rendering of actual smoke and mirrors! Photography does also inspire certain trends in game design and style; otherwise I doubt we’d have nearly so much lens flare in racing games or depth of field in shooters.
