This Week In Games: The Game You May Have Already Bought

There’s been plenty of rumours flying around that Dead Island: Riptide has already broken street date. Neither EB Games or JB has completely given up the ghost yet, but plenty of people have informed me that they managed to pick up a copy over the weekend. But the official release date has apparently held in some shape or form.

But there are other games coming out this week. Don’t Starve may be the game I’m anticipating most. Anyone buying anything this week?

Dead Island: Riptide (360/PS3/PC

What is it? Less of a sequel, more of a spin-off to the sort of successful Dead Island.
Should you care? It’s probably the most significant release this week. I haven’t seen much of this game at all. Banal sentence alert: fans of the original may enjoy.

Don’t Starve (PC)

What is it? New game from the makers of Mark of the Ninja, which I loved.
Should you care? This is an indie darling in the making. I’d say you should care and check it out for sure.

Injustice: Gods Among Us (Wii U)

What is it? It’s the Wii U, rocking up to the party when everyone else is hungover on the couch, gorging on McDonald’s breakfast.
Should you care? It’s a good game. But if you’re interested in this I suspect you’ve already bought it on another format.

LEGO City Undercover: The Chase Begins (3DS)

What is it? Mediocre handheld version of the really quite cute Wii U game LEGO City Undercover.
Should you care? Dude, Luigi’s Mansion 2.

Star Trek (360/PS3/PC)

What is it? New video game that isn’t really a movie adaptation, but sort of ‘expands that universe’. Which is really just a buzzword.
Should you care? ‘For fans of the movie’ and all that, but the truth is we just haven’t seen much of this game at all.
