Gran Turismo 6. We all know it’s coming, it’s just a matter of when. And that ‘when’ could be May 15 at an upcoming event at Silverstone, one of the most famous racetracks in the world.
First and foremost the event is a celebration of Gran Turismo’s 15 year anniversary, but according to the Gran Turismo blog, creator Kazunori Yamauchi will be on hand at this event to discuss the ‘future’ of the Gran Turismo series. This could mean anything, but I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this event, combined with the above invites, suggest that some sort of unveiling will occur. Could this be the reveal of Gran Turismo 6? Will it be a current gen racer, or will it be a PlayStation 4 title?
The following statement from Jim Ryan, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, is cagey, but I’d be very surprised if we weren’t given some sort of update or official announcement regarding Gran Turismo 6.
“The Gran Turismo franchise continues to be extremely important to PlayStation,” he said. “We felt that 15 years of GT was an event worth celebrating along with our colleagues from the Americas, Asia and Japan. We are very grateful to our manufacturer partners for helping us to bring together a fantastic event. As well as experiencing the development of the game and comparing the virtual and real, it will be a pleasure to see Yamauchi-san and hear what’s next for Gran Turismo.”
More news when we here it.

It’s a card game!
So……how many years were we teased with #5 before it got released? It was bordering into Duke Nukem territory.
*grain of salt taken*
It’s a F2P iOS game built around microtransactions.
PS Vita, maybe? That could help shift a few units…
I think, judging by the picture, that they will be announcing a brand new invisible car!!!
Word on the street is that despite being invisible, they are still at least 25% easier to spot than a Smart Car when merging.
Obviously teasing the Nike car form GT4 as DLC.
If it is GT6 please don’t make it as boring as GT5. GT5 made me switch to Forza 3 and 4 which are a lot more fun
exactly.. I bought a ps3 for GT5.. waited and waited for it to come out.. played it twice, never went back. NFS Most wanted was better
May 2015
The thing that made the Forza Series good was the amount of customisation you can do on a car for example one of my cars is a Ferrari 458 with a fully worked twin turbo-charged Enzo motor and running 4WD…
This what I would like in GT6
– Full Customisation (Engine swaps, drivetrain swaps)
– Able to RM (Race Modify) any car (like in GT1 and GT2)
– More tracks (we know that PD were track scanning Bathurst I think it was last year)
– More cars but keep it fresh (a big complaint from most gamers is that they don’t want 40 different types of a Nissan Skyline or 20 different types of a Mazda MX-5’s) also getting the Porsche licence would be good
– Car Sound needs to be improved
– DLC on a reguar basis. Much like Forza’s mothly DLC car packs, maybe PD can do the same…the only problem I can see with this are 1) PD’s attention to “detail” 2) pricing.
A Vita version would be good…might sway me into buying a Vita. Especially if you can take your garage & progress from GT6 to play on the road and then continue on your PS3/PS4 (most likely that would require PS+ membership)
No, this is actually an ingame shot but due to seriously bad loading times, the car just hasn’t loaded yet… Honestly GT5 was one of the worst games I’ve ever plays, from the UI to the loading times and more importantly the loading screens.. it made it totally unplayable..
Now dont get me wrong, when you had a nice premium car driving around a beautiful track it was great and i had a great driving moment win a 1960’s classic car driving the nurburg ring.. but I found the entire experience so frustrating I just hated every minute. I welcome any new game and competition in the genre is great, but sort out the UI, make the loading screens, if you have to have them, make them as quick as possible and then if you need to keep them, provide something interesting… Codemasters do a great job of hiding their stuff with interseting semi random facts about you and your driving history.. something similar would go a long way.
The UI was abysmal, perhaps the worst I’ve seen in a high budget title. The loading times were awful. The collision physics completely broke the “realism” feel. The AI drivers in race situations were so awful and apparently unaware of the cars around them that said collision physics came into play far too often. There was just way too much stuff in GT5 which seemed designed to turn the game into a chore instead of fun. Such a shame. Certainly difficult to tell where all the time went on it, it seemed like a game which had been rushed out unpolished rather than a game in development for a ridiculous length of time.
I pre-ordered GT5. Won’t even buy GT6 unless it gets outstandingly positive word of mouth.
And bring back Red Rock Valley from GT2 – Still one of the most fun tracks I reckon, and hasn’t been in a single game since!
One thing I’d like to see is the ability to have timed races in arcade mode.
ie, Having your own 4 hours of Nurburgring.
Well it can’t be any worse than GT5. All those years it spent in development & yet it turned out so mediocre.
Apparently the devs have been mapping out Mount Panorama, that’ll be fun.
What I want to see in the game is a completely stripped back UI, none of this premium/non-premium car texture nonsense and less freaking menus (which ties in with a stripped back UI).
GT5 felt like GT4 but with a couple of high res car mods. The rally stuff was great…
Merge GT4 + Auto modellista + Kaido battle touge no densetsu. Huge variety of cars, real aero parts for cars. Real damage. Customise your garage. Limited garage space. Huge wheel selection with actually sizes and not just 17x7Js
I enjoyed the crap out of GT5, but im not a picky gamer like a lot of people seem to be here. I thought GT5 was way better than any of the Forzas when it comes to all out racing. Forza feels like a Need for Speed spinoff to me, that concentrated more on customization features than actual racing itself. You get a better racing experience with GT5 by far, than what you can get out of Forza. Im looking forward to GT6.
+1
GT5 has some of the worst menus in gaming and is strangely ambivalent about making you want to actually progress through it but it is probably my most played game of all time.
I still play it now and the constantly updating seasonal events keep it interesting. I
So much room for improvement though as stated above. Hope they can keep their fantastic driving simulation mechanics and build a decent game on top of them this time.
