New Assassin’s Creed IV Trailer Explains Why You'll Be A Pirate

Sure, you’re going to play as a pirate in the next Assassin’s Creed but it’s not exactly clear why. If you’re wondering what motivated the swashbuckling terrors of the seven seas to live life the way they did, then watch the newest promo clip for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

Pirates as symbols of freedom? That’s one way to spin it, I guess. We'll see if Ubisoft pulls this off when ACIV comes out later this year.

I see your video, but all I'm hearing is "Yar-har, fiddle-di-dee, being a pirate is alright with me; do what you want 'cause a pirate is free!"

pirates symbols of freedom? *facepalm* granted back then being a pirate was more desirable than being in the navy but this kind of romanticisation is just one of the things off putting about the AC thease days, lets not kid ourselfs, Pirates werent exactly heros

Maybe our knowledge of Pirate lore of them being baddies stems from the Templars controlling the stories being told about them in history =)

They couldve been freedome fighters, but the Templar politicians branded them as outlaws and used this as justification to send Navy sailors to the slaughter, creating bloodshed which in turn self justifies itself

freedom fighters? UUUUGGGGHHHHHHH*bashes head against desk*

I get what you mean, though priates werent all the same, being a Privateer is more about freedom (and kind of cool) but pirates werent in it for any cause

unless all pirates were assasins...because why the hell not amiright ubisoft?

          Pirates? more like libertarians;
          support gold backed currency: Check!
          Right to bear arms: Check!
          Don't wanna pay tax: Check!
          Don't recognise legitimate governments: Check!

Would want us all to pirate this game: Check!

lol i simply meant that the premise behind most AC storylines is that the ruling govts we know of in history were all templars. So usually the "baddies" are the assassins since the bad guys or victors end up writing History

Why didn't they just make a new IP around being a pirate in an open naval inspired world. Could've been friggin awesome.

because that would at least be original and therefore wouldn't sell a million copies :(

I still think this should not be an AC game. Ubisoft should have had the balls to create this as a new IP and take AC into other directions.

I know a lot of people may disagree but even though AC3 was fun at times, overall it was a fail in my books.
    I like this new direction

ima sneak up on dudes in MY GIANT SHIP.

if they did an AC game set in WW2 (because lets be honest how could they not?) what if you had the main assasin charachter.....but he was a Natzi? seriously

think there's already been a Nazi Templar? Remember a short sequence in WW2 trenches in that AC Facebook game.
