Nordic Games brings us what appears to be an Indiana Jones-esque first-person globe-trotting experience called Deadfall Adventures. Also involved: shooting and explosions aplenty.
In Deadfall, you play as Quatermain, an adventurer from 1938, whose job is to escort and guard Jennifer Goodwin, a US secret agent in search of an ancient artifact, The Heart of Atlantis. Together, they journey “across stormy deserts of Egypt to the icy depths of the Arctic and all the way to the steaming jungles of Guatemala”, all the while keeping ahead of two other factions trying to get their hands on the artifact — you can probably guess by this point that these are the Nazis and the Russians.
Here’s what the game looks like in motion. Developers The Farm 51, the Polish group behind NecroVision and Painkiller: Hell & Damnation, built Deadfall using Unreal Engine 3, the same engine powering the Borderlands games, DMC, and the new Thief. They hope to deliver “one of the most jaw-dropping spectacles this generation has enjoyed.” That’s quite the claim to live up to!
Deadfall Adventures is scheduled to come out for PC and Xbox 360 on September 27 (pushed back from July 30, the date mentioned in the trailer above). You can check out the box art and a few fresh screenshots below.

Looks like an Xbox 360 version of Uncharted, thats giving it a lot of praise. Not saying it will be as good as that. But one can hope.
Looks like theres a lot of potential, I just hope the puzzle/archaeology side of the game isn’t too simple or boring…
This could be a lot of fun. Collector’s Edition for the 360 is only 60 bucks at ozgameshop.

The music in that video is a shockingly obvious carbon copy of uncharted 🙁
Game looks like it might be cool though
Yeah – its dangerously close to a straight knockoff. The whole ‘my grandfather’ blah blah blah, is pretty close to Nate’s thing too.
I wonder if it links back to the books.
Ahahaha, so MS get exclusive rights to game Developed by a Team who cant release a stable game for crap.
It looks like Uncharted and feels like it.
Does Microsoft copy every idea.
First they make the Kinect sound like their idea, but sony have had the Playstation Eye since PS2 and functions pretty much the same, and the playstation 4 version of Eye will fucntion the exact same way as Kinect 2.0, but you can completely Disconnect PSeye from the PS4.
But again, Microsoft have missed the point on what makes Uncharted great, its made by Naughty Dog and Published by Sony. If Naughty Dog needed 5 Years to make Uncharted 4, Sony will give them an extra Year.
On the other hand, Microsoft Push, Push and Push Developers to force the game out and give them less time to develop a game making it a Hostile Enviroment, hence why Bungie didnt renew their contract with Microsoft.
And I bet ya Epic Games is done with Gears of War and will create a new IP for next Gen that won’t be exclusive to Xbox, and MS will get in another Developer to Milk the Gears of War Games Dry. Cause that last Gears of War Game was way to dull for me to finish.
I love how people can take one look at a game like this and immediately start with the arm-flailing and the claims that it’s a rip-off of Uncharted. Regardless of how highly most people would rate Uncharted as a game series (myself included), let’s be honest, in terms of plot and the overall themes it’s as derivative as they come.
I think we can all safely agree that Uncharted drew most of its initial inspiration from the highly successful Tomb Raider series, which clearly demonstrated that audiences still love the whole archaeological action adventure routine, despite the fact it’s been done to death. Naughty Dog’s continued sales performance with the series is solid proof of this, as is the success of the recent Tomb Raider reboot. People just love the whole mixture of shooting bad guys and exploring tombs.
What I find most hilarious is that back when the original Uncharted was first released, people cried “Rip-off of Tomb Raider!”, and even before that it was “Tomb Raider is just Indiana Jones with boobs!”. Hell even the Indiana Jones series itself is highly derivative of published material from decades beforehand. The original character design drew primarily from the main character in Sir H.R Haggard’s “King Solomon’s Mines”, an explorer/hunter named Allan Quatermain.
So if the main character in this new game is tied back to the original character in King Solomon’s Mines (as it would seem), I guess that means we’ve done a full circle. \o/
+1 Yumpy, you articulated what I was thinking almost exactly… I can’t believe how quickly people jump to these massive biased conclusions.
I thought the game looked awesome, kind of dated, but this kind of genre – (I don’t know if you’d call it a “genre”.. Indiana Jones-esque?) seems like it would suit an FPS pretty well if it was done right. I’m hoping it’s more oriented towards the exploration/puzzle solving approach than trying to be all cinematic like Uncharted. Here’s hoping for minimal first person platforming!
totally agree. Whilst the first thing I thought was that it looks like indiana jones (even though that’s an homage to older movies, it certainly is the most iconic for everybody who’s alive today) It looks a little too dated for my liking. Will have to see more to pass judgement
