Michael Bay Involved In Ghost Recon Film

Ubisoft's tactical shooter series Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon is going Hollywood. And it's doing that with movie direct Michael Bay of Armageddon and Transformers fame.

"Having one of Hollywood’s boldest feature film directors attached to bringing Ghost Recon to the big screen is a dream come true for us," said Jean-Julien Baronnet, chief executive officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures in an official statement.

"And with Warner Bros unmatched track record of successfully producing, marketing and distributing big movies from the industry’s top talents," Baronnet added, "we think this project has huge potential."

Ubisoft did not specify whether or not the movie would be based on a specific Ghost Recon game.

Often, video games get planned movie versions that don't quite pan out. However, with one of Hollywood's most successful directors attached, a Ghost Recon film could very well happen. For better or worse.

You'd be delusional if you thought Michael Bay was any worse than the people who write those games now. What's the bet people will complain about Bay filling it with dumb shooting, explosions and nonsensical dialogue.

I dunno if I like the sound of this. I think his style is better for a CoD/MW movie than Ghost Recon. But then again I am a fan of the old Ghost Recon and its raw militaristic build rather than the new Hollywood style story driven ones we get these days

Agreed. Havent truly dug a GR game since Island Thunder.

        Man... Island Thunder...

        There's a name I haven't heared in a long time.

    No! NOOOOOOO! God damn NO!

Ghost Recon is the complete OPPOSITE of Michael Bay! It respects the military and knows how they work! Bay should be working on a Call of Duty movie, where they have no idea how the military works and just throw explosions at you.

Michael Bay, huh? Well, it's definitely a no brainer...

Micheal Bay did Pearl Harbour, The Rock and the assault on Chicago from Transformers 3... so I can see them wanting his connections with the millitary and his ability to get high funding and well known cast.

Kind of wish they'd gone with Terrence Malick though...

I reckon Michael Mann would have been a good choice. His films' gunplay is some of the best out there-- exciting, realistic and with a lot of attention to detail. Bay's all about the teenaged boy market, and he's said so himself. With him at the helm, he'll make it Call of Recon.

He provides good connections, big names and will help ensure a nice expenditure of money on everything. Just pray there are some quality writers.

I like to see Rainbow Six turn to a movie but a Ghost Recon movie is gud as well.
