   OH MY GOD! I can’t wait to walk around with my hands in my pockets. This is so exciting, what an age we live in where we can walk around in a game world with our hands in our pockets. What will they think of next.

      There’s still a long way to go. Gaming will never be taken seriously until we figure out how to have shoelaces dynamically unravel. Imagine the possibilities! Do I reload my gun? Tie my shoelaces? Scratch my nose before the itch meter fills up? Oh god the immersion!

   As an artist in the industry for the past 6 years I can tell you that it is actually technically, rather difficult to accomplish this. Which is why when I saw the first ever trailer for this game I noticed it immediately. It may seem trivial but it’s a nice touch that’s taken a lot of work to achieve.

      Even in prerendered animation, that kind of cloth simulation can be a pain in the arse. In a game where you’re heavily restricted by what you can do with your sim, rigs, poly counts and whatnot, it’s pretty darned impressive.

   This looks good.

   However, would everyone please note that “looking good” does not equal “playing good”? Because, despite what hacks like Ubi think, how one controls the game is more important than “OMG, WE HAZ MOCAP!”

   If it’s just gonna be “hold down three buttons to go anywhere” like AC was, then no thanks.

   I don’t know why they tried to invent a “brutal” fighting style. Should’ve just used Krav Maga, already the most lethal style used in the armed force and is designed these sorts of scenarios.

   Until we can give wedgies in games with realistic physics and a tangible effect on the character receiving it, we are yet to reach the pinnacle of what gamign has to offer us as a medium.

   Did you even bother to watch the video? It was simply about the efforts they put into the mocap, not presenting “pockets” as some mystical ground breaking feature.
