Now that E3 has come and gone and we’ve gotten an idea about what’s coming next in terms of games, what’s tickling your fancy? Whats games jumped out at you as must plays? What are you lusting after?
Mine is a strange one but I’ve been going on about it so much you can probably guess what it is — Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze! This game really dazzled me after having a chance to play it at Nintendo’s booth, and I can’t wait to check out more.
Watch Dogs is another obvious one — but everyone is looking forward to that. The game that perhaps surprised me most, however, was Batman: Arkham Origins. The new team working on that game is adding some intriguing new features to this game, including some enhanced detective features. I was actually blown away by how good this game is looking. One of my most anticipated for sure.
But what about you guys and girls? Let us know in the comments below.

Company of Heroes 2. It’s out in less than a week, so I think now is the appropriate time to get hype.
Been playing it since the start of the year, it’s pretty amazing how Relic have fine tuned it since then!
I’ve got it preordered and have been playing the Open Beta. Very fun game, although I still quite don’t understand most of what’s happening.
In general, GOD I SUCK, WHY DO I HAVE TO SUCK SO MUCH.
killzone – shadow fall, although i am hoping that people will actually play the multiplayer, like on killzone 3 it really died off there.
With the next gen about to begin, I actually tried out Halo 4 and Killzone 3 multiplayer for the first time yesterday (I thought it would help me pick the PS4 or Xbone first). IMO, Halo kills Killzone in MP in so many ways, but neither are as deep as COD BLOPS 2, which I’ve been enjoying immensely on the Wii U since launch. Before that I pretty much never bothered with online MP games. The Killzone MP wasn’t helped by the fact that in most games I was playing with only two or three others, and they were all really good at it. I hope for Killzone’s sake they increase the polish in their MP, because their take on classes is actually pretty cool, and not unlike BF.
The thing COD does better than any other game is that it gets you into a match quickly. I like Halo but the wait times have always been ridiculous
Halo4 wait is virtually non exsistant even lately considering not that many people play it, but the wait for a team game in Halo reach and prior games was part of its appeal, every match felt important if you left early you were letting your whole team down I enjoyed that intesity
I played the Beta multiplayer loads for Killzone 3 when it was released on PSN. For some reason when I bought the actual game I never touched the multiplayer. Weird
Thought Mario Kart looked much better than I expected. Titanfall looks like a great mix of Halo’s vehicle and jetpack shenanigans with COD’s speed and finesse. None of the PS exclusives tickled my fancy in the slightest, and I think E3 would have been very different if the Xbone lost all the new ideas much sooner. DK looks good, I just wish Retro had been working on another franchise.
Mainly Destiny, Watch Dogs and Saints Row IV. I want to get interested in GTA V, but I’m not really sold on it yet.
Really! The only reason they’re releasing Saints Row IV in August is to try and get some sales before GTA V comes out. For me GTA V is a must have (pre-ordered a collector’s edition), Saints Row IV is a maybe, if I have the money and there’s no other games I want.
Donkey Kong looked pretty good, but I haven’t even got the last one yet, Definitely excited for Watch Dogs and Batman: Arkham Origins. Oh yeah, and Mad Max.
That’s one of the reasons… the other is that they want to get it out before it’s buried by next gen games and consoles.
GTA will always sell amazing numbers… Saints Row is still a cult favourite.
I do have some concerns about SR4 since SR2 was fantastic but SR3 was a bit over the top and some of the grazier content just didn’t pan out to well. Plus I spent most of the game wondering why Johnny Gat got a lame off-screen death.
I am hoping the completely insane SR4 will provide slightly more longevity.
I have higher hopes for GTAV being better than GTAIV, but less interest in playing it. I know that doesn’t make sense.
The main problem with Saints Row for me (aside from the fact that I am pumped for GTA) is that it comes out the same day as Splinter Cell and XCom; two games I want! Also I haven’t finished SRIII (annualisation doesn’t work on me I take forever to finish a game)
I’m looking forward to the next Steam sale. I have a list of five or six games to add to the pile of shame. In terms of gaming, the game I’m really looking forward to this year is the Last of Us. C’mon Australia Post!
I’m also quite keen for Watch Dogs, but I’m waiting for reviews of the game before getting excited because I have a real hit and miss relationship with Ubisoft titles.
Also: Anchorman 2. The first official preview was pretty hilarious.
I am looking forward to QuakeCon this year, i don’t know why but considering the wraps have have been thrown off the new generation of consoles and Rage is now finally dead and buried maybe, just maybe they’ll announce Doom 4, if not then it’s 4 years in a row i have felt like buning id software offices to the ground.
My theory is that they were holding out until Sony and Microsoft have announced their next consoles before announcing Doom 4 but i’m probably wrong.
Games i am looking forward to are Watch Dogs, GTA V, Rise of the Triad, Wolfenstein: New Order, Carmageddon: Reincarnation and maybe Shadow Warrior and Saints Row IV.
Destiny, The Division, Watch Dogs, Killzone: SF, MGS5, Mad Max, Final Fantasy15, Deep Down, and maybe GTA5 (if it’s nothing like 4, I hated 4).
New consoles in general and having something to look forward too. Both pre-orders are in.
Pikmins. And Smash Bros.
Also vaguely interested in what this new Steel Diver thing is going to be.
Right now I’m looking forward to lunch.
In the long run though… The weekend.
I’m looking forward to PAX AUS, at the moment – a month away! – and am hoping to get a bit of hands-on time with the new PS4 controller, if we’re incredibly lucky.
Game-wise, I’m hopeful about Arkham Origins, whatever Naughty Dog have planned for the PS4 (because they must have something in development), Kingdom Hearts 3 and FFXV, Watch Dogs once I decide if I’m getting it on the PS3 or the 4, and just all the cool new games that haven’t been talked about yet because they’re still in development for new consoles.
The future looks pretty cool from here.
Dayz, splinter cell and watch dogs will
Cover the rest of 2013 for me, with help from my steam “pile of shame”.
The division looks like the most amazing thing I’ve seen in years and if it doesn’t come out for PC alongside the consoles ill be very sad.
Destiny, Watch Dogs and The Division
GTAV, Batman Arkham Origins and NBA 2K14 will fill my time for the remainder of the year.
Forza 5, Watch Dogs, The Division and especially Dark Souls 2 will occupy me for all of 2014…
I’m really looking forward to Arkham Origins. In fact I have even preordered the PC version for $37.50 at greenmangaming. Even if they just make it a cookie cutter sequel, I loved the previous 2 Batman games and finished them 100% (twice!), a feat I usually don’t bother with.
Plus GTAV, Mario 3D World, Wind Waker HD, Donkey Kong Country Long Title I Forget, the PS4.
and Dark Souls 2. My body is ready.
DayZ Standalone (Crafting system sounds sick!) and The Division. Couple of other games in there look kinda neat, but I’ve not even started on my backlog which dates back to about 2004. So, yeah….
Watch Dogs
GTAV
Arkham Origins
Destiny
The Devision
Smash bros (3DS version-really want wii U one though)
That should round out my next years worth of gaming nicely =)
DARK. SOULS. TWO
Also GTA V.
I guess there’s next-gen stuff too, but for the aforementioned reasons I’m so not ready for that yet.
Just Tales of Xillia for me.
Oh, and the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection too!
Dragon’s Crown
Batman Blackgate
Persona 5!
I’m surprised at how hyped I am for Monolithsoft’s ‘X’ despite never playing an M-Soft game before.
Batman Blackgate
Batman Origins
Deadpool
GTA 5
Saints Row 4
Project X Zone
Super Smash Bros 3DS
Watch Dogs, The Division, Dark Souls 2, Destiny, and Frogware’s new Sherlock Holmes game.
Killzone: Shadow Fall
Metal Gear Solid V
Beyond: Two Souls
Battlefield 4
Also gradually starting to get interested in Watch Dogs, but Ubisoft’s milking-dry of the Assassin’s Creed franchise makes me wary of this one. So the onus is on them to convince me they’re not just going to do the same thing with this one.
No-one else looking forward to Total War: Rome 2? I’ll be spending two weeks solid conquering the world before GTA V comes out and then attention will be torn between the two. ALso looking forward to strolling out of EB Games with my shiny PS4. Looking forward to Destiny and inFAMOUS for that
Ace Attorney 5 and that new Monolith Soft game are on the top of my list.
Metal Gear Solid V. There are other games I will play, but that is the one I’m waiting for.
The Division, Titanfall and Battlefield 4
The Division is what I’ve been waiting to happen since I played DayZ. Polished, open-world tactical shooter. Plus it’s Ubisoft and their Tom Clancy series has always been a fav.
Titanfall I wasn’t completely stoked on, even after watching the big E3 MP footage. It wasn’t until I heard the creative team talk about it on Giant Bombcast that I got excited. Their explanation of the vertical traversing/dash movement system they’re incorporating made me really excited for this. It could change the game the way COD did with adding ADS to AAA-FPS games.
Battlefield 4 because I just love Battlefield. Dice are so amazing at what they do, they’re able to outweigh their dead-weigh publisher. If it was any other studio, EA would have suffocated them by now. STAY STRONG DICE!
I’m not getting the next Battlefield until I get a next gen console cuz I want the big battles with 60-odd players going at it.
60FPS with 64-player is awesome. I played BC1, BC2 and BF3 all on 360. Dropped at least 100 hours on the BC series and another 100 on BF3. But I eventually made the shift back to PC start of the year and got on BF3 there. It made the console version feel like a wonky port.
Octodad – OMG will be glorious! Simply GLORIOUS! Theme song is amazing!
The Crew – Seemed like a good mash up of Need For Speed, Burnout, Fuel and Fast & The Furious, the scaled down map of the US seems like there is alot of ground to cover.
Killzone – Hoping the “weighty” controls still remain.
and of course the PS4…
Splinter Cell Blacklist
Grand Theft Auto V
Watch Dogs
Metal Gear Solid V
Project Spark (read today it will be free and on 360!)
Last Guardian and Agent
I’m really looking forward to the division, Killzone, second son and the xbone controllers. I want to feel these trigger rumble functions and also whether the triggers can offer resistance depending on the situation
I actually really liked the look of Tom Clancy’s The Division. Pretty much everything about it looked really fun to play with friends. Though I’m a bit worried about what looks like native auto-aim; I always switch this feature off in games as I believe it takes away from the challenge, it’d be a bit of a bummer if anyone and their mother could progress just as far (or further) with relative ease with it switched on. 😛
But the Division doesn’t stand alone. All in all, there looks to be some awesome cooperative experiences coming up, which is just my cup of tea. 🙂
What impressed me most about a lot of the titles was the scale of things. 2013: the year of grand scale! 😀
Oh, and we’re less than a week from Company of Heroes 2. YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
half life 2 episode 3
GTA IV
WatchDogs
State of Decay (Steam)
(maybe) BF4
Rise of the Triad (pumped for this!)
Dragon’s Crown
Killer is Dead
Spelunky (PS3)
The Wonderful 101
Bayonetta 2
Dark Souls 2
Donkey Kong Country Returns 2
Destiny. Sweet geezuz that thing looks rad.
Armiikrog. I desperately hope it gets funded. Neverhood was so good.
Sadly their Kick starter has been stagnant since the initial flurry of activity. You should all go and give them money.
Final Fantasy XIV:ARR. I’ve played the beta and only have good things to say about the game.
I have to say The Division really grabbed my attention, the UI and especially the map just looked so cool.
I’m looking forward to my tax return and then purchasing a gtx780. Gotta love that brand new electronics smell fresh out the box.
