Tell Us Dammit: What Are Your E3 Expectations?

It's a terrifying thought, but E3 is next week and for the first time in years we are heading into the conference with two new, next generation consoles on display. What are your hopes for this years E3? What are you hoping to see? What are you expecting to see?

I think that of 'the big three', Sony is heading into E3 in the most comfortable position. Microsoft's poor reveal of the Xbox One somehow put its slightly-less-bad reveal into perspective. It has games to show and an audience that's swelling towards it.

Microsoft has a lot more to prove, but it is my belief that it will most likely steal the show. Execs have hinted that, internally, Microsoft has invested $1 billion in games for the new console. I expect we'll see some of them . I'm hoping there will be some crackers in there.

Nintendo? Well, I fully expect Nintendo to reveal a new 3D Mario game for the Wii U. It will probably be incredible. That said, I can't help but feel as though Nintendo isn't treating E3 with the same gravitas as Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo has the greatest potential to surprise us but, at the same time, the greatest potential to show absolutely nothing of consequence at all.

What are your thoughts?

A new open world Bethesda game with no bugs. That's all I hope for

You might as well ask for a solid gold house, its more likely :P

however i agree, i'd love a new Bethesda open world game, maybe even a new Fallout in a new engine.

I am so looking forward to the day they release a new Fallout. Updated Skyrim engine? Beautiful.

I expect Microsoft to redeem themselves and show off a bunch of awesome games. I think Sony will do and say all the right things, but not really wowing anyone. Could be a strong showing from Nintendo as well, but Microsoft will be the big winner.

A new IP from Nintendo that isn't a sim would be swell. But I don't expect it. I'll be content with new first party Wii U games releasing before the end of the year, the 3DS is set up for a while.

    I'm expecting inevitable disappointment.

True story, the other day I got a reminder on my phone saying "Dear Future Steve. Don't stay up for E3. It always sucks"

Should I heed Past Steve's warnings?

Nah past steve was a dick, he left them dishes for future steve so many times.

        He totally does that!

He also eats terribly and makes me pay the price.

Past Steve is wise and has knowledge of the Long Ago. Trust in him.

Sometimes I get gifts from Past Me who rostered days off and mail deliveries because he knew Future Me would be bummed and in desperate need of those days and gifts. I pretty much trust most things Past Me set in motion, and try not to read anything he's actually written, because that would basically shatter any confidence I have in him.

    2 words.

    Killer..........Instinct.

    HL3 is a lunch title on PS4.

PC release date is as Gabe says it.

    The innernette burns down.

Ham & Lettuce 3 isn't the lunch title I've been waiting for. I had it last week and back then cheese and tomato was included in the box. Expect them to be microtransactions from now on!

I'm expecting the second coming of christ in console form.

what i'll probably get is burnt toast.

I'm expecting a fair bit of Microsoft attempting to look like backpedalling on their horrific anti-consumer ideas for the xbone. On the surface it'll seem like dialling back the anti-consumerism, under the hood it'll still be as functionally money-grabby, invasive and restrictive as originally planned.

Expecting evasive/incomplete/contradicting answers when quizzed hard on the things that aren't on the corporate-approved talking points list surgically attached to all reps' limbs or skulls. (No deviation from the script on pain of death.)

Also, LOADS of new shiny games to distract us from the really huge xbone flaws, too, so that we'll hopefully ignore or forget about them at worst, or shrug and accept them as 'the price of admission' at best.

Actually, that won't happen. It seems they've found a pretty obvious way around that - just don't open yourself up to being quizzed in the first place!

Ever since MS announced they'd not talk about games until E3, this is exactly what I expected them to do. Give the internet a few weeks to rage over their new policies, debate and hopefully rationalise them, before hitting them with multiple reasons to ignore those policies. Such an obvious ploy. I really, really hope it doesn't work.

Gonna be a giant ad, lots of people will try and convince the press how great stuffs gonna be.
    Lot's of hype.
    Lot's of sales bullshit.

There'll be a few good vids at the end of it all but overall it'll be just like every other ad.

My expectations on this year's E3 can be found here.

I expect none of the bad/concerning press issues surrounding MS to be cleared up. Is it the post-E3 press conference that Microsoft has cancelled?

Any info about the neogaf rumour MS is trying to pay for games to NOT to show their PS versions at E3?

I expect more questions raised about the release specs of the Xbone. Are they watering them down slightly because they are having trouble with the yield of esram? or something?

These are the last 3 MS issues i have read recently.

    I expect bitter disappointment.

Don't forget the booth babe discusion and sexist bla bla bla. Have they canceled them yet?

Maroi 3D for xmas. A reveal of f zero UX. Free jetpacks for early wii-U adopters to compensate for the price drop.

I would actually be interested in an F-Zero on the 3DS.

      Perfect system for it.

I'm actually looking forward to more 3DS news than anything else.

      Also, Rocksmith 2.

    -Microsoft overusing the word 'experiences'
-Nintendo announcing yet more Mario, Zelda and not a lot else
-Canned, awkward applause and random 'woots'
-Sony promising us they haven't actually forgotten about the Vita, they've just been drunk for the past 16 months
-Miyamoto tears onto stage in a giant Bowser-shaped mech and lays waste to the entire expo
-Jack Tretton comes across like a dodgy used car salesman again

PS4! SONY!! and more PS4!!!!! XD

I'm going in with no hopes or expectations. This doesn't mean I'm a pessimistic downer, but I want to be completely fresh and wide-eyed as all the updates start rolling in.

Games that actually make me want to buy a wii u would be nice

    Price of new consoles
    Release date of new consoles
    GAMES GAMES GAMES!

Hopefully some awesome looking trailers for some games I want to play

What I woudl like is less pew pew more story but don't think I'll see that

I've been waiting for Retro's new game for a year. I heard they had a trailer ready for E3 2012 but they decided for whatever reason not to show it, and I've been hoping every Nintendo Direct since would have it. Still, I'm about just as excited as Monolith's X so that was a pleasant surprise. I hope we get more info on that too.

Interested somewhat in any new exclusives Sony has for PS4. I really don't care about Microsoft.

I expect there'll be a new Halo announced for Xbox One

There are almost no games I want to play or am looking forward to. I've basically stopped being a gamer in the last 6 months. I'm sick of killing things in games, but Halo is my favourite game series. A new Halo game would reignite my gaming passion. Here's hoping .

        You're not playing Halo 4?

I played co-op campaign on legendary last night (accidentally with a skull that upgrades the baddies too). Had pizza and beers and it was a lot of fun. Probably wont play again for a month or two though.

            I reckon there will be.
