The Next Final Fantasy Gets 2014 Release Date

The Next Final Fantasy Gets 2014 Release Date

The third Final Fantasy XIII game, less awkwardly known as Lightning Returns, will be out on February 11, 2014 (February 14 in Europe), Square Enix announced today. To tide you over, the game’s E3 trailer has been released. You can view it above.

And yes, we know, E3 isn’t until next week. E3 trailers are like Christmas, you know. The decorations go up a little earlier every year.

The game is slated for release on Xbox 360 and PS3. No word on next-gen versions. The next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will be out in late 2013. Neither is backwards compatible out of the box with the current-gen games (Sony is at least promising some degree of cloud-gaming PS3 backwards-compatibility), so plan your purchases accordingly.

Update: The Japanese release for Lightning Returns will be November 21, 2013, according to the tweet below.
