If you’ve been eyeing off a Nintendo 3DS, keep your peepers in standby mode for a little longer and you could snag a game, gratis, with your choices including Luigi’s Mansion 2, Mario Kart 7 and New Super Mario Bros. 2.
Aussie-Gamers’ Tynan Muddle spotted the deal yesterday; it has its own page on Nintendo Australia’s website. The details are thus: buy a 3DS in Australia or New Zealand between June 20 and July 31, register for Club Nintendo, send through proof-of-purchase and you’ll get a code you can claim on the Nintendo eShop.
It’s important to note the deal doesn’t start until June 20, so if you pick one up now you won’t be eligible (from what I can tell). It’s a bit odd Nintendo would announce it now, but hey, it knows a heck of a lot more about running promotions than me.
Oh, yes. Almost forgot: here are the games you can select from:
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf
- Luigi’s Mansion 2
- nintendogs + cats: Toy Poodle & New Friends
- New Super Mario Bros. 2
- Super Mario 3D Land
- Mario Kart 7
Hard to argue with that list!

Looks like Nintendo have finally pushed me to buy that 3ds that I can’t afford…
3DS only, not 3DS XL. Which seems insane to me.
same, might be an attempt to clear out stock is my thought
Yeah i was gonna jump on it but I think I’ll stick to my original plan of buying an XL this October.
Someone tell us the EB Games shift change schedule, get free game, return after staff change, claim you got a regular one when you meant to get an XL >.>
Depends on EB’s hardware returns policy, which seem to vary store to store.
Moreover, it would depend on the download code for the game being linked to the serial number of the 3DS in question.
Or the twin circle pad model that will be announced this month……..
yeah that wont happen, a console with 2 circle pads will effectively be a new console and it will split the market.
yeah, that is what I am holding out for. Plus I liked physical copies of games so I guess it is not too tempting.
honestly, get the XL, its a much better console
My thoughts exactly
After so many great deals in the US and Europe the Australian deal is very disappointing.
This. I imported my PIkachu 3DS XL from Amazon.co.uk and still managed to get Professor Layton for free in January this year.
My daughter just submitted a claim and now wishes she had just bought the game. She is frustrated to have to wait ten days and isn’t even sure she qualifies because I bought the game at Big W who had an offer on. Why not offer the physical game at point of sale and make the T& Cs more obvious. We only found out about the exclusion of offers online after purchase, the leaflet says nothing.
Sorry to bring an old thread up here, does anyone know what region a 3ds xl with a serial of saf103157748 would be from? Blue one. Thanks
