Man Builds Life-Sized Tie Fighter Replica

Man Builds Life-Sized Tie Fighter Replica

The last we saw of Darth Vader’s prototype Tie Advanced fighter, it was spinning off into space while the first Death Star exploded into sparks and high fives. Plus, that was just a model (or a piece of CG). So really, it’s only now, that some crazy Germans have built a life-sized version of the ship, that we get a real good look at it.

The group, called Project X1, used fancy model kits as a starting point, creating something that 1977 George Lucas would have been proud of. Beginning the project in 2011, it’s now done, and ready for internet adulation.

Some specs: it weighs 1.4 tonnes, is 5.3m wide, 4.8m long and 4.3m high.
