NeoGAF user Rolf NB spotted this commercial yesterday, originally aired back in April for German company Web.de. And, yeah, it looks a lot like Mirror’s Edge.
You could say it’s a rip-off, yeah. Or you could take the glass-half-full route and recognise that hey, the people who made the clip probably really liked Mirror’s Edge, and somehow found a way to pay homage to the game while getting paid for their trouble.
I mean, if you were just going to rip the game off, you’d do so superficially. When you copy Faith’s moves and even some of the game’s set pieces, I think it’s pretty clear this is more “love letter” than “copycat”.
