The battle of the non-arthropod invertebrates that begin way back in 1997 finally reaches its third stage later this year, as Team17 prepares Worms 3 for exclusive iOS deployment.
The original turn-based earthworm artillery strategy debuted back in 1995, followed relatively quickly by Worms 2 in 1997. Worms 3D briefly turned the series stupid in 2003, trading the beloved side-view for a third-person view, a move that certain players (read: me) despised. The 3D trend continued with 2005’s Worms 4, after which Team17 wandered the gaming world, sprinkling non-numbered installments from Facebook to Xbox Live Arcade.
Now we’re back on track.
Worms 3 boasts shiny graphics, new classes of wormly combatants, fresh weapons and something called strategic playing cards. Everything is better with playing cards.

They started a “new” numbering system when they did the iOS versions, of which this is the third. It’s not that weird.
Baw, iOS.
I miss the days of playing Worms Armageddon on the 64.
Yep!
Seriously, I hate every single thing about iOS games
Yeah man! Armageddon was the best iteration – I lost many an hour passing the PSX controller in a circle with housemates. It’s insane how competitive and strategic that game can be once all the players are good enough to know exactly what they’re doing.
just $3.99 for a supersheep, or $9.99 for 3
I always thought Team 17 made Hogs of War as well but apparently not. That was a great game
fuck yes! I didnt think anyone else remembered this game…. been hoping for a remake / sequal all these years
Oh wow. Yeah, that was a great game! But I was just a penniless teen at the time and only had the demo from a magazine disc. Played it to death though.
That’s utter bullshit they did
Worms 1, 2 +Armageddon and world party
Then 3D and Forts Under Siege
Then Worms 4 Mayhem
Then Armageddon 2.. Sooo is this game Armageddon 3 because techincally speaking worms 3D is 3 so get your sh@$ together
Also.. This “worms 3” looks like a watered down version of the recent Worms Revoloution for PC and Xbox Live
Hedgewars!
I always just assumed that Worms: Armageddon was technically “Worms 3”. It is still my favourite instalment of the Series anyway.
