This Week In Games

The games release calendar has gone dark, leaving us with a steaming pile of Smurf, and not much else.

Perhaps it’s the Steam Sale. Perhaps it’s PAX. Maybe we all did something wrong and we’re being punished. But once again, we’re not exactly drowning in new games choices.

DARK

What is it? A stealth vampire game, combining two already clichéd tastes into one package.
Should you care? It hasn’t reviewed well, doesn’t seem to do anything that hasn’t been done before and better. It short, it appears that it bites, but not in the right way.

The Smurfs 2

What is it? It’s a movie tie-in. We all know how good those usually are, right?
Should you care? I’m going to go out on a limb here, and say abso-smurfin-lutely not. I used to love The Smurfs in their Peyo incarnation, but the hollow, soul-less eyes of the movie critters makes me shudder. Combine that with what appears to be generic movie tie-in-platformer #231,653, and I think it’s safe to assume mediocrity is the best it can aim for. Sorry, Smurf for.
