Community Kudos

Well, I am tired. I have a headache and I want to go home and play Gone Home. Or maybe Papers Please depending on whether I want to be depressed or weirded out. But first there is kudos to be bestowed, thanks to be delivered, heart to make swollen with happiness. Welcome to Community Kudos!

Meats. Brisbane people tend to have a lot of them, or maybe it just seems that way, like when you think you’ve chosen the wrong lane in a traffic jam but, when you actually switch over, you realise that everyone’s going at more or less the same pace. WHO KNOWS.

Aaaaaanyway

Welbot played host to quite the meat last weekend and apparently it was quite the feast.

Beardymcmuttonchops
I’d like to nom @welbot for two things. Firstly for organising the hot pot meat on Sunday. It was great, and broadened my culinary horizons! Secondly, he built a PC for me which I’ve named ‘The Beast’ (it’s huge, blue, and just a little bit hairy).

Secondly, I’d like to nom @enduwolf for giving myself, my wife and my new baby (The Beast) a lift home from Welbot’s place.

Thirdly, I’d like to nom @freezespreston for bringing his 3DS to the Hot Pot Meat because Streetpasses make the world go round. And anti-noms to @sernobulus and @dkzeitgeist for forgetting their 3DSes.

What does this mean, “broadened my culinary horizons”. What did you make Welbot? WHAT DID YOU FEED THESE PEOPLE?

The Welbot seemed to be doing a fair bit of lovely nice stuff throughout the week — I actually saw some nice pics of Freeze’s new computer on the social medias over the weekend, but I had no idea that Welbot had helped build it.

Freeze
I need to Nom the Welbot. He is building me a new PC, first capable one I’ve ever owned, and is doing it the same day I asked him. He’s like some super space wizard with powers of awesome.

Also Aleph Myfafellaontimeaminniemime for not destroying my house while he was staying here and not stealing all my stuff… yet.

And I think we can now wrap up this Welbot section with some noms from the ‘bot himself. Yes, that would be lovely. Tie this whole thing into a nice bow!

Welbot
Kudos time! This week I have to give out a few I reckon. It’s only fair! I arranged a meat last week, and most people actually showed up! I was stoked to see them all again! Especially Enduwolf! Been ages since I saw him!

Was great to meet Transientmind for the first time too! He’s a pretty good kinda dood! But yeah, I’m gonna throw a nom in the direction of all attendees, for making it a day to remember! SerNobulus, Beardy McMuttonchops and his Mrs, DAN!, Aleph, FreezeSPreston and his family! Was a cracker of a day! Many laughs were had, and many good eats too!

This week has double noms though! Aleph, Freeze and Beardy all get double noms! Aleph cos he’s coming to visit me again shortly, and Freeze and Beardy for throwing some business my way. Always stoked to help out fellow gaming enthusiasts achieve their dreams 😉 Especially my fellow TAYbies!

DOUBLE NOMS.

Nomming is not a competition, but there were some quality noms this week. Real quality stuff. Like these Shane noms that were totally inspired by Kotaku’s latest regular HaiTaku…

Shane
This week, Mark, I think
I’ll nom in haiku format
Because Haitaku

I nom @Greenius
He gave me AC New Leaf
Distilled gaming crack

Hope that your weekend
Is filled with toothless grins and
Similar glory

Beautiful. I particularly liked the phrase “filled with toothless grins”, because I know that’s what’s waiting for me when I get home 🙂

And I always enjoy noms from Hermes, mainly because they’re infrequent and always very well written.

Hermes
I hardly ever nom and then when I know it’s just these two guys because these two guys are just good humans. D.C. gets a nom for just being responsive to everything that happens and having the memory of a whale. Which apparently is really good, if Carl Sagan is telling the truth. He also has a list of Things To Talk About with every single taybie if he is going to meet them in real life. He’s cute as.

Rockets is the second of two. I see his true Colours shining through. Rockets called me a god/hero this week for *that* Twitter incident (ya know the one – sfy.co/rCPH – which, wth mark, did you even like that? are you not a fan of 80’s synthpop!?!? do you not love me anymore?!?) and I know he is a big Phil Collins fan and a real Easy Lover. Rockets seems to keep a mostly happy demeanour Against All Odds which makes me think that every day for him is just Another Day In Paradise. If I had One More Night to seriously consider these noms, I would probably double nom him. But you know mark, You Can’t Hurry Love between these Two Hearts. Anyway, Rockets, Don’t Lose My Number mate, you bring a smile to this heart. Sussudio.

Also, I think this is kind of neat: remember that competition to go to E3 last year that you guys really helped me out with? Well, xbox dudes contacted me the other day and asked if I was potentially available for the EB expo in october. So, really TAY and you and the whole site really helped out there. Therefore, Oprah noms incoming.

Everyone is nommed.

Sussudio indeed.

This insight into genuine madness was brought to you by Chuloopa (who I haven’t heard from in a while — whassup?)

Chuloopa
MARK!!!
BUDDY!!
BDKIAF!!
MY GOD!!
HE GIFTED ME SPACE HULK.

SPAYSH. HOLK.

Do you understand what i am saying?
Space Marines.
The Emperor’s chosen.
The Angels of Death.
Rick James of the 41st Millenium.
Mr. T hitting fools with his Powersword of pity.
Chuck Norris in mother-loving power armour.

SPACE. EFFING. HULK.

No one.
NO ONE deserves Kudos more than BDKIAF.
Not even Val Kilmer for his work in Dances with wolves.
Was that even Val Kilmer?
Is that even how you spell Val Kilmer.
I like the way this rolls off my tongue.
Val Kilmer.

Sanity?
Where we’re going we don’t need sanity.

We’re hunting bugs. On a ship. A space ship. A big dark space ship. A GRIMDARK space ship…. That is also gothic.
Goth is architectural structure.. not as in writing angst-ridden poetry and listening to HIM.
What was i even saying??

That’s right… BDKIAF.
Would you nom him?
I’d nom him.
I’d nom him HARD.

Space Hulk.

Sincerely,
Rear Admiral Loops

Wow. That was a true rollercoaster of a nom. It had it all really. The Wire of noms. The Zidane of noms. The Illmatic of noms.

Tigerion my good frond! It’s been too long! Let’s go bowling my cousin!

Tigerion
A belated welcome back to the fold
Noms for this week

@WiseHacker
That patience of a saint, the logic of a vulcan and driver of the karma train.

@transientmind
Defender of truth, justice and the master race way
@scree
For pointing out a doujin game bundle on groupees that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise

May your apartment stay forever mold free
Tigerion

And finally, we end on noms from Strange! It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do that!

Strange
Hey, so I’m not sure if Community Kudos is going ahead or if it’s being changed up, but I need someone to be recognised for being awesome, anyways. @masha2932 He’s often overlooked because he’s a quiet achiever but he’s always around with a cheerful word and messages of support when people need them the most. Mashaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
